Derek Kimball noticed used Impact as a font for their poster this year. Do you know a who notices this kind of thing?
Congratulations to Chris MacKenzie and STARC Systems for their win in Greenlight Maine! Not only are they reducing their impact on the environment with their reusable wall systems, they are a blast to work with. Kudos to you, Chris!
Both Brunswick-based companies, STARC Systems won $10,000 coming in second place, and bluShift Aerospace was awarded $5,000, coming in third. Bixby Chocolate, a Rockland-based company, took first place and the $25,000 prize.
Any day filming at High Output with these peeps is a good day.

Won't stop, can't stop. Special thanks to Dennis Perkins for helping us spread the word about Neptune Movie.
Allen Baldwin believes the 2015 film's time is yet to come.
The great Samuel James shares his thoughts on the passing of another great man. RIP Chadwick Boseman.
"In a country tearing itself apart during a time of Black liberation, Boseman not only portrayed iconoclastic icons that helped us get as far as we have, but also the Afro-futurist hero we wish we had. He represented who we were, are and aspire to be. He was a living embodiment of Black joy, struggle and hope. And because his own fight for his life was private, his death was sudden for us."
My friend Junious and I were in a barn on top of a mountain in West Virginia. The barn was filled with Black people dancing to traditional Black music being played by Black musicians. It was a beautiful and wonderful moment. We weren’t dancing, though. I could tell he wanted to, but I hadn’t mad...

It’s been such a pleasure to meet so many hardworking, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic members of the Maine mining community and to hear hundreds of exciting and fascinating tales about mining for minerals and gems. The thrill of the hunt is alive and well in the mineral-rich pegmatites of Maine. What’s a pegmatite, you ask? Well, it’s a complicated answer, but just know they may be full of treasure!
Just ask these folks and look for more oral histories to be added throughout the month

Monday morning staff meetings include 'show & tell' at STOBO.
Hello Facebook Family– We hope everyone is staying healthy and sane out there. We've been doing a lot of research on SBA loans and other ways to bridge these trying times and discovered this article from a travel-related site. Lots of good info here on govt offerings and other $$ resources (plus a quick virtual escape to other lands). Be well!
The CARES Act provides for a series of grants and loans to small businesses, along with expanded unemployment benefits. Supposedly.
"We are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is.” – Mark Vonnegut
Colleagues, friends, and family – we want you all to know that STOBO is here for you, and we aren’t going anywhere.
Sure, we’ve all run away to our homes for the time being. We’re watching the news like you are, and we’re worried for our families and friends who might be in the path of this, biologically and economically. But we are at work, editing, animating, writing. We are working.
But we aren’t going anywhere.
Literally, we aren’t going anywhere. Not for a couple of weeks anyway.
But we’re here for you.
We’re here for our clients – ready to look for responsible solutions to get your videos done and your ideas communicated. We’ve got crews to work with all over, and animators on speed dial. There are plenty of ways to make videos that can work with social distancing. Some editors even prefer it that way 🙂
And we’re here for our colleagues – the film and video artists of our community. We will be donating to a soon-to-be-announced artist relief fund, and working hard to make sure that all of our collaborators stay solvent. And we will be organizing a group chat to discuss industry concerns as well. Contact us if you would like to be involved.
But most of all – PLEASE – if you need help, call us. Really. We mean that.
No one is in this alone.
Great fun hanging with our friends from in Atlanta this week at 2020.
Thanks to Dennis Perkins for this 'out of this world' article highlighting our film for the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum. It was a very special project for a very special place.
Making 'Meteorites & the Epic Story of Our Origins' was a life-changing experience for Jennifer Widor Smith.
Any shoot day that can end with a trip to the L.C Bates Museum of Natural History is a damn fine shoot day.
Archiving projects today and this one makes me smile – We had the privilege of following Frank Perham around for the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum. As Frank says, “It’s the story, not the stuff.” Here’s to a humble Mainer with hundreds of amazing stories and sound advice.
Oscar Monday at the office = popcorn + Parasite 🍿🎟
Lots of fun interviewing these meteorite hunters in Tucson a few years back. It's a dangerous profession! Thanks to the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum for the opportunity and the fun trip!
Congrats to the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum on their opening day!

Finally a day free for our end of summer extravaganza and we went back in time for this one. Of course our resident superstar beat us at EVERYTHING!! Thx to the team for a very productive summer! Charlotte, Maddy, Allen, Jen,(missing Ben and Rachel).
It's not often you're invited to record a show like Taylor Mac. Thanks so much to Portland Ovations for having us on board for this unique and memorable production.
We had two stellar interns this summer, Maddy Gaskill and Ben Rooker. It was trial by fire and they both jumped in without hesitation. Ben is a talented and creative editor and knows his way around a camera. He has a great eye and a steady hand. We wish him the best as he continues his schooling at and look forward to working with him more in the future.
Maddy continues to be an incredible post-production asset and we hope to keep her busy for as long as we can. She has a background in news editing so not only can she cut a good story, she does it fast. We are so grateful to them both for being a part of the StoBo family!
Thank YOU for this opportunity! It's a real team effort so big thanks to Sputnik Animation and Michael McInnis Productions too! All of us are looking forward to sharing the big show with everyone.
