What she couldn’t bear resembled spilled milk.
His public life open, private life hidden beyond her ken.

"I drew this series over the last six months while I began making peace with past traumas that have stemmed from my identity being female including pains from my childhood. No matter what the social circumstances may be around me, I always know where to return to."

My brother held a stag party with a 35mm scurrilous film on our dining room wall with a keg of tapped beer. After watching the film a cousin broke my drunken h***n in the passenger seat of his red car saying, “I always liked you best.” I was 15 years old. His wife was pregnant with their first c...

Lessons from my grand mothers' tongues; death is not meant to be feared nor idolized when there is no end to infinite beginnings. As a genderfluid artist, I am my grandmothers dreams and worst nightmare. I am not female in the way that I do not define myself based on my body parts. I am not feminist

Calling all poets, submissions are open! The deadline is April 21st.
For our Spring 2022 issue, we are seeking submissions on the theme Awaken — that pivotal moment at the start of each beginning. What does it mean to take those first steps? As spring approaches and the dark days of winter start to become a distant memory, how does human life mirror the Earth’s annual rebirth? Does it always mean an end to something else? And what would happen if these awakenings never happened?
Send us work that will make us laugh. Cry. Think. We want you to push the envelope. We want you to move us with your words and images. Our team of creative and passionate editors is ready to see your words and artistic visions.
Submission guidelines and information is available on our website: voicecatcher.org
Happy March, Voicecatchers! We are so excited to announce that we are officially opening submissions for Spring 2022. Our theme for this issue is: Awaken. We invite you to explore that pivotal moment at the start of each beginning. What does it mean to take those first steps? As spring approaches and the dark days of winter start to become a distant memory, how does human life mirror the Earth's annual rebirth? Does it always mean an end to something else? And what would happen if those awakenings never happened?
From waking each morning to birth, death, and moments in between, these beginnings give us a chance to grow into our individuality, discover ourselves, and learn what it means to live in a constantly shifting world. Share how you are awakening with us.
See our website for submission guidelines and visit our Submittable page to submit your work.

Hi, VoiceCatchers!
We're quickly approaching our fall submissions cycle and in great need of volunteers for our staff. Most importantly, we're looking for someone to step into the president's role. I am sad to announce that if we can't find someone to take over the president's position, we will have to close down VoiceCatcher, after nearly 15 years of publication.
If serving as president doesn't sound like your area but you'd still like to help, we also have openings for other board positions and managing editor and editorial positions.
Working with VoiceCatcher has been very fulfilling for me and a wonderful way to get to know the local writing community. And if you're interested in the world of publishing or literary journals, it's an amazing way to build experience in that area as well.
You can check out the open positions here: http://voicecatcher.org/voicecatcher-volunteers-needed/
