I had the opportunity to record this record last year with Todd Zimberg and Michael Gotz at Dead Aunt Thelma's Studio. Mastered by Dana White. Here is Alone Together.
Here’s a little impromptu video of “Rough and Tumbled” recorded on the Steinway at Dead Aunt Thelma's Studio on 8.8.21. You know I can’t resist a Steinway!!! 🎶🎹❤️

It was definitely a big ol’ tug on my heartstrings to sing in this room again. It’s where I learned how to sing in the studio, which is a whole different animal than live performance. Thanks Mike Moore and .sacha for letting us come by and hang out!!

Throwback Mack: trying to remember a song from long ago! Here’s a bit of “First Day of Forever”, a song we wrote back in early 1990s I think? This week while in Portland, we dropped by our old recording studio we built, called Dead Aunt Thelma's Studio . Scott and I made an valiant attempt to remember how to play it! 🎶🤷‍♀️😂
We wrote and recorded a lot of songs inside these walls before we sold the studio and moved to Nashville. This one got some traction on the local radio station KINK fm and kept the Caryl Mack Band workin’! 😎
Oh hiiiii! True Meaning is officially mixed 🤗 I’m really proud of this work and all the beautiful collaborations which make it so special ✨if you want some behind the scenes content and unreleased tracks, consider signing up to be my Patron. 🛸🙏

TAKE FLIGHT—for the future we hope to see

If we are going to change the world for the better, we need to look beyond today and do something each day to ensure the future for the generations that follow us.

Portland pianist and composer, Darrell Grant, has imparted an inspirational gift of hope and support to Friends of the Children-Portland through his latest digital recording and music video, “Take Flight” featuring vocalist Michelle Willis.

Half of the proceeds raised from the release of this song will support Friends of the Children - Portland.

If you are able, make a suggested donation of $5 or $50 (anything helps) at

Beyond that, we call on everyone to think about ways you can show the young people in your world that they matter

🔹 Ask young people what they think and listen to what they say.

🔹 Support teachers and organizations that are working to educate our young people during the pandemic https://fundforpps.org/cv19relief

🔹 Support national and local organizations that give youth opportunities to lead https://ysa.org/

🔹 Volunteer and support creative youth development programs that nurture young people’s participation in the arts like BRAVO Youth Orchestras,Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Vibe of Portland, and Youth Philharmonic.

🔹 Mentor young people and be the examples they need to see of selflessness and care for the planet https://friendspdx.org

🔹 Resist injustice and show that we can love bigger to create the world we want to see.

Take Flight is out now in all the places and spaces you find music

From "On The Road" to in the recording studio. When I heard Riley Mulherkar was going to be passing through Portland, I couldn't pass up the chance to record a series of duos at Dead Aunt Thelma's Studio. Thanks to Sacha Muller for the photos and engineering.
