Out with the old, in with the older! I traded in my Rega turntable for this rocksolid, 40 year old Kenwood KD-600, pimped out with an SME M2 tonearm and an Audio-Technica AT33PTG/2 cartridge. After dialing it in, the hairs on my neck stood up - reminding me again just how stunning vinyl can sound!

I was asked by Mississippi Records and Toody to revisit the first nine albums by Dead Moon, and remaster them in 24bit HI-RES for the audiophile streaming site . I originally mastered them over a decade ago when Fred and Eric at Mississippi Records reissued these seminal albums on vinyl.

The expectation was to bring them up to modern levels and give them more weight / impact, while keeping true to Dead Moon's raw DIY recorded sound. To achieve this, the entire catalog was remastered with my analog rig, then recaptured digitally at 96kHz/24-bit. My favorite part of these remasters is being able to hear how monstrous Toody is on bass!

Video clip #10 is an AB sample that starts with 2024 remaster, then toggles to our master from 2011 for comparison.
