Exploring the Oregon coast with @dwellwellwithjess.
.
Produced this piece as part of the Dwell Well With Jess web series, showcasing hidden gems around Portland and beyond.
Kayaking with @ramahnorcal. We launched from Moss Landing and headed towards the sea with open views for as far as the eye could see. I did the filming while @shirley_shai_kashi did the paddling. I dare say she had the harder job, though keeping my camera from getting soaked did take some effort.
.
Raw footage, Canon 5D Mark IV.
And then I found myself in the ocean, filming surfing lessons at @ramahnorcal.
Raw footage, GoPro 10, and DJI Mavic 3.
This is @andrew_sone, a member of the waterski staff at @campramahincanada. He's an amazing athlete and skier and it was awesome watching him do his thing on the water.
One of the perks of my job is getting the opportunity to witness people doing what they love and capturing those moments on film.
More clips coming soon!
Waterski clips from this week's shoot at @campramahincanada. More to come soon - stay tuned!
Thanks to the awesome ski and waterfront staff for letting me hitch a ride on the speed boat and for indulging all of my (never-ending) requests.
Drone shots captured with the #djimavic3, boat shots with the Canon 5D Mark IV mounted on the Ronin-S.
Waterski drone teaser filmed at @campramahincanada. Thanks to the awesome ski staff for indulging all of my requests and shuttling me around Skeleton Lake. More ski clips to come!
Welcome to @campramahincanada.
This has been an incredible week of filming in Ontario, Canada. Everywhere I point the camera there is something beautiful to capture. The views here are truly epic.
Camp Ramah in Canada
Welcome to Camp Ramah in Canada.
This has been an incredible week of filming in Ontario, Canada. Everywhere I point the camera there is something beautiful to capture. The views here are truly epic.
Mountain biking at @ramahwisconsin! No trail ride is complete without lakeside views and skipping stones. Ahhhh, summer camp!
This year’s song festival at @ramahwisconsin was outdoors next to the new creative arts building. With beautiful, open skies I was able to launch the drone and get a different perspective of the event. What a perfect setting for song, dance, friendship, and celebration.
Flying the drone, for me, is about more than creating an aesthetic, it’s about seeing where we fit into the larger world that surrounds us. We can’t be in several places at once, but with the help of the drone we can capture that experience and appreciate it.

Spent most of day one on the waterfront @ramahwisconsin capturing their new tubing activity
Had a drone in the sky, 4K camera on the boat, and a GoPro on the tube - so much awesome coverage to work with in post. More sneak peaks to come!!

LCFS Report Animated Explainer Video
The final cut of our new animated explainer video produced for Stillwater Associates is live!
We used After Effects to create the motion graphics and Illustrator and Photoshop for artwork and design.
The video was created to help Stillwater Associates market and promote a new online product and is being distributed across their digital channels to build awareness.
Secondary Animation
Secondary animation is an essential principle in motion graphics and animation. Secondary animation has many vital roles:
• support the primary animation
• add more depth to the scene
• emphasize key visuals, concepts, themes, movement, sounds, etc.
• bring more life to the scene, or “make it pop.”
In this shot (narration has been removed), note the leaves coming out of the smokestacks – a subtle visual cue that reinforces one of the main themes of the video – and the wind turbines spinning. These secondary animations make the scene more exciting and help support the video’s core message.
Media Bros Explainer Video, Form and Function
Great storytelling, filmmaking, and editing go beyond the literal interpretation of the script.
Coloring outside the lines prompts viewers to engage their imaginations and explore alternative concepts and ideas.
This is one of my favorite short sequences from the @mediabros.store explainer video that we produced several months ago.
Maccabi Sports Camp Teen Leadership Program Promo Video
Stoking the drama in this intro sequence for a recent project produced for @maccabisportscamp of Palo Alto, CA. These are some of the most talented young athletes I've encountered - really amazing to watch them do their thing.
This video was produced to promote and market the camp's Teen Leadership Program.
Machar Fundraising Video Project
Final cut of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Metropolitan Chicago fundraising video produced to spearhead the final phase of its outreach campaign.
Working on a super-tight timeline, we completed this project in about 3-weeks. The animations were created in After Effects and live video was captured on location in Chicago.
Thanks to the SSDS team for an incredible collaboration – this was an amazing project to work on!
Product Video Showreel for Luna Technologies
I love being tasked with the challenge of making tangible goods look and feel like something you'd want to cuddle. Now that is a damn sexy hydrocarbon extractor!
This is a snippet (no sound) from a looping product showreel produced for @lunatechnologies for one of their national sales conferences. The full video played on a large display at their booth, attracting eyeballs from across the room.
The Ethics of Prevention
Transform the mundane into art and people will watch, follow, listen, and learn.
Let's face it, no one likes watching a PowerPoint presentation; which is why I am working with a large healthcare organization to convert their PowerPoint content into beautifully animated and designed videos.
Animated Fundraising Video Intro Sequence
Here are the first 30-seconds of the new fundraising video produced for Solomon Schechter Day School of Metropolitan Chicago. Animations and motion graphics were created in After Effects and live-action video was captured on location in Northbrook, IL. More clips to come!
Thanks to everyone on the SSDS team who helped bring this awesome project together!
The Importance of Staging Your Home Before Selling
This project was all about creating juxtaposition: empty rooms versus beautifully designed layouts; dark and light spaces; cold and warm colors and energy.
Of all of the real estate videos I've produced in the past, this one stands out – it was the first time I actually got to film before the home was staged, and then return after the home had been furnished before hitting the market. The difference is astounding.
This project was produced in collaboration with Dwell Well With Jess to help solve a problem and educate their audience about the importance of staging a home before the selling process. Though it may feel to the seller like just one more cost, the data shows that the investment provides significant returns.
Using video to educate your online audience and provide valuable, informative content is always the way to go and helps strengthen organizations' branding and marketing efforts. Thanks, Dwell Well With Jess, for the opportunity to work on this project!
A Changing Industry
One of the things I love most about my job as a filmmaker and creative is getting the opportunity to work with so many different people and industries to help bring their stories to life.
While collaborating with Media Bros of Portland, Oregon, I had the opportunity to interview some of the folks in the cannabis industry who are changing the rules of the game via innovation, imagination, and execution. Scientists are approaching the plant with new passion and rigor – excited about both its recreational and medicinal potential.
Z3 Project Conference and Marketing Video
We recently traveled to Palo Alto, CA, to film and produce the official promo video for the annual Z3 Conference, hosted by the Oshman Family JCC. Our creative vision for this project: crafting a fast-paced drama centered on people, dialogue, engagement, and the conference content.
Before producing this project, the primary question that guided our research was how to make a conference video that doesn't suck and bore the viewer to death. Key takeaways: forget the static shots of gift bags, table settings, centerpieces, and empty rooms. These things aren't essential and don't matter. Focus instead on the message, the topics at large, people's voices and opinions, and create energy through movement and pacing.
Primary tools for this video included a 4K camera, Ronin gimbal, Konova slider, a small boom mic kit, and, perhaps most importantly, our legs. After all, engaging videos need movement (these are motion pictures!). Whenever possible, we move the camera, our bodies, our subjects, effects, and keyframes.
Yelp Review Marketing Video Produced for Dwell Well With Jess
Why should your awesome reviews sit stagnant on the web? Convert them into video snippets and leverage them for social media, social validity, SEO, and increasing channel traffic. This is an inexpensive, quick, and easy way to boost your marketing and branding efforts.
This is a fun little animation produced for one of our clients, Dwell Well With Jess. We discussed how to better and more strategically use their Google and Yelp reviews, and decided to create a series of short animations that can be distributed across her social channels. We produced twelve videos – so we can post 1 per month – and the response so far has been spectacular.

Circle Society Animation Demo
Adding motion design and animation into your company's marketing, advertising, and branding ecosystem is a sure-fire way to get some eyeballs on your content. From explainer videos to logo animation, the sky is the limit!
Artwork, music, and narration provided by School of Motion.
Animated Explainer Video
Short animated clip from a new project we're working on with a healthcare provider to help parents and teachers better understand and respond to children's difficult behaviors.
We're creating a toolbox of digital content, primarily using video, that parents and teachers can access and use as reference and educational material. Very excited about this project!
Animated Logo Demo
Fun little demo creating an animated logo for a fake company. Focusing on smooth motion, eye trace, and working those keyframes in the value graph.
Data animation created for the CDP Health Care System of South Dakota. My company recently partnered with CDP to provide creative and social media management services. The primary focus of our work will center around producing content that assists in the prevention of substance use during pregnancy and providing the community with relevant local information and data.
Using video is a great way to streamline, automate, and simplify your business operations. Creating a series of FAQ videos for your website and social media channels is just one way to spend less time on the phone and answering emails.
Strategic use of this style of videos is also great for boosting SEO and driving people into your marketing funnel.
Here's one FAQ video from our series produced for JCC Maccabi Sports Camp (@jmsportscamp).
It's-It Ice Cream Birthday Smash
During the summer at camp, JCC Maccabi Sports Camp of Palo Alto gives campers a special treat on their birthdays: a delicious It's-It Ice Cream sandwich.
But for those kids who have birthdays during the non-summer months, they miss this special ritual.
So, we decided to create a series of videos for those kids who can't enjoy an It's-It during the summer with their friends. Here's one of the videos we produced to lift their spirits 😂
Happy Paper Plane
Simple paper airplane animation created in After Effects. By using variations in speed and a few twists and turns at the right time, we can give this plane some fun personality.
