All the support Flower Room has received on Bandcamp Fridays and beyond in 2022 has been incredible as always. This was the first year that running the label wasn’t my full-time job, and despite many life shifts and existential whatsits over the year still managed to add 10 new titles on BC, plus 6 subscriber exclusives (+1 or 2 more coming before the end of 2022), three releases on other labels I’ve long admired (, Not Not Fun, and ), and launched two new collaborative projects (Rose & LaJoie and ML rootless)

10th anniversary cassette reissue of Herbcraft’s Flowering out July 10th! The solo, bedroom-recorded companion tape to Ashram to the Stars and bridge to full-band barnstormer The Astral Body Electric features 10 tracks (plus never-before-released contemporaneous instrumental bonus track “Orange”) that draw inspiration from Japanese psych and the experimental US/UK underground from the 60s-80s and 20tweens. A longtime fan- (and personal) favorite in the Herbcraft discography, Flowering instantly sold out of its initial cassette edition on short-lived Julia Dream Recordings, and has never before been available digitally or streaming in full. 🌊💎 Rose & LaJoie, the new collaborative duo of .digitalis and .wah, offers their debut album on May 20th! Available for preorder now on cassette via Flower Room and as a digital co-release with The Jewel Garden, On the Crystal Seas opens with the 22-minute “A Horizon Purified”, which is up on Bandcamp as an introduction to the cosmic synth-n-guitar path these two longtime long-distance pals have blazed in their first ever musical collaboration. Recording separately in Oklahoma and Maine, trading files online and sharing mixing duties, the pair collapses the space by meeting in Now time in a state of absolute presence.

Thank you for all the kind words and support for .wah ‘s debut solo piano album, which has turned out to be one of our fastest sellers of all time. We’ve heard from many that the music has had a profound effect on providing peace, comfort, relief, and transcendent inspiration in their lives this past week, and this is truly the highest compliment (and an astute awareness of the true intent of our work with Flower Room). It is an honor, a joy, and a privilege to be a part of your lives in this way. We will be getting these out in the mail and into their new homes next week! Reflections of the Samith is a single 41+minute improvisation that was performed as a healing ceremony at Montauk Salt Cave NYC in December 2019. Synth, 10-string guitar, bass, voice, melodica, ocarina, and loops guide the set through varying floral hues, a piece of pastoral “virtual rurality” brought to bustling Manhattan. Recorded direct to Ash’s phone and lightly edited, mixed, and mastered for best possible fidelity from this lo-fi source, Reflections of the Samith is available in an edition of 100 transparent pink shell cassettes (shipping at the end of September) and a digital album exclusive to Bandcamp.

We’ve also revealed details on the bonus tape / digital album Land Mass, .wah ‘s companion to the forthcoming Red Resonant Earth LP. Expanding the scope and perspective of RRE, the Land Mass companion album fits together seven tracks that ground spiritual seeking and cosmic wandering deep in the mycorrhizal soil and roots of the planet. Employing the same electric 12-string-plus-loops setup as RRE, many of these improvised recordings were in consideration for the final tracklist of that LP; here, they function together as far more than cast-off pieces, but rather as a cohesive album in intent and performance. Hear the track “Backroads” now on our Bandcamp; the complete digital album will be out October 22nd, with the cassette exclusive to the Collector’s Edition RRE vinyl (expected to ship April 2022).

Flower Room’s 2021 March Madness cassette reissue tournament

16 out-of-print cassettes facing off for the chance at second life in the form of a new edition on Flower Room this spring. With nearly all of our past tape offerings sold out and no longer available to newer fans, we wanted to have a bit of fun deciding which to make available once again. Starting tomorrow, fans will be able to vote via polls on IG, Twitter, Facebook, and Patreon for which of two competing cassettes to move on to the next round, ultimately deciding which title to select for the full reissue treatment.

Bracket ranks were determined by total Bandcamp streams as of this morning. At the end of the tournament, we’ll make the new cassette edition available for preorder on April’s Bandcamp Friday. And as a bonus for our dedicated patrons, Patreon and Bandcamp subscribers’ votes will count twice in every poll, and each of these groups will additionally decide on a favorite “runner-up” tape for its own reissue later this year.
