Sorry our site is still down! The current issue will be uploaded soon to reedquest.org. For your convenience, we have uploaded photos of the pages that are pertinent to the following post. In the photos, you’ll find an article about the recent hate speech on campus, including student and administrative responses to it.
Some (pretty big) things have changed since this week’s paper went to press early Thursday morning: John Kroger designated Reed a sanctuary college and has signed two letters, on behalf of the college, one supporting DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and the other demanding that President-elect Trump condemn the harassment, hate, and violence that has emerged on college campuses since his election. He also apologized for the confusing language of his email to parents and has sent an update clarifying his previous message.
These developments are significant to this story and we’re sorry we couldn’t include them in the story due to press deadlines. Because of the Thanksgiving break, we don’t publish next week. However, we feel that these developments deserve prompt note by the Quest.
We commend these positive strides President Kroger has made. We hope his response will continue in this vein just as we hope that student activism on these important issues will persist.
