Over the last seven years and three months, 150 children have been killed in the State of Maine. These children were in the care, or the oversight, of the office of child and family services, (OCFS) which is under the umbrella of the maine department of health & human services. (DHHS)
While this is not a new problem in Maine, as most of us first became aware of it in 2001, when five year-old Logan Marr was duct taped to a highchair in the basement of social worker Sally Schofield and died - Schofield was sent to prison for her crime and everyone in government promised to do better
My friend Bill Diamond, who unfortunately passed away last year, was a warrior on behalf of these voiceless and defenseless children
He did everything he could and more to bring attention to the issue and to seek reform so that no more children would die these senseless deaths while in the care or oversight of maine's government
Although these deaths are well documented, and most have been adjudicated in court, with conviction as the outcome
Maine's government has done nothing, except the following:
The department has fought every effort for transparency, and greater oversight
The department has retaliated against every whistleblower who has come forward
The department will not answer questions
Governor Janet Mills has not spoken about these tragedies in well over four years
The Governor's. only commentary has been to praise the Commissioner when she resigned, praising her for a job well done
The Governor did the same when the director resigned under pressure
Finally, when 145 employees of the department authored a letter stating they had no confidence in the new director, once again, Governor Janet Mills praised the new director and said nothing about the tragedy of the dead children
When Bill Diamond was in the legislature, he did all he could to bring new legislation forward that would reform the agency, and although it passed several times in one of the chambers, it was tabled in the other, so no reform took place 
after he was termed out in the Maine Senate, Bill Diamond and his wife, Jane formed an organization called, walk a mile in their shoes
This organization's singular mission was to bring attention to the crisis of young children being killed while in the oversight or care of the Department of health and human services, and to bring forward solutions based on the evidence the organization had painstakingly gathered based on conversations with hundreds of stakeholders all over Maine 
still, Governor Janet Mills did nothing and said nothing for over four years
Several times, legislation advanced in the maine legislature, only to be denied ultimate passage because of parliamentary procedures and tricks and a simple tabling of the bills
Maddox Williams was a beautiful three-year-old boy
He was slight of frame, had blonde hair and blue eyes
His birth mother is a monster
Maddox had been taken by the department from his monster mother, and was placed in the safe and loving arms of his grandmother, Victoria Vose
Under the laws of Maine, Maddox's monster mother had abandoned him
The department broke the laws of Maine and reunited Maddox with his monster mother, taking him from the loving and protective arms of his grandmother, where he was safe
As a sidenote, when the department reaches a certain percentage of reunification with children and their parents, the department receives a bonus
Maddox Williams, a three year old Maine-born child, was tortured by his monster mother
Ultimately, his monster mother stomped him to death, bursting his bowels and his spleen
She was convicted of this crime and is now serving time in prison
Yet not once, the department of health and human services did not speak out on the issue, other than in court during her trial and only as required by the judge
Yet not once did Governor Janet Mills say a word
150 children have died in government oversight in the state of Maine in the last seven years and three months and their deaths have been brutal
Once again, the maine legislature considered legislation that would bring direct oversight and transparency to OCFS
ONCE AGAIN,
the legislature played games with this legislation
And it failed
Everything that I have written, here is gospel
The men and women of the maine legislature who DID NOT VOTE FOR THIS LEGISLATION OR PLAYED TRICKS TO BLOCK IT and the governor of the state, Janet Mills, should be tried in a court of law for depraved indifference with regard to the deaths of 150 innocent maine children
Not one democrat running for governor has said a word about this issue, all but Angus King III, served in the current government as this was happening
I don't care whether you believe me or not
If you doubt me do the homework yourself and you will find out I am correct
Over the last seven years and three months the elected people of Maine have not only let the 150 children who were brutally murdered and tortured down by their indifference
They have also failed to seek to corrective action for even the most basic procedural problems that were identified by the federal inspector general, who found in 94% of the cases they reviewed that proper procedure and oversight was not conducted by the department or the agency with regard to these 150 children
I have no doubt if you ask your elected people about these issues, they will lie to you
They have no honor
They have no integrity
But most of all, they have no heart, or care, for the innocent, vulnerable children of Maine
You can listen to their lies as they try to explain why they did nothing
And you can believe them if you choose
Or, you can choose integrity and go and see the Graves of these dead children and then hold these useless elected people accountable for their depraved indifference 
ONE MORE THING
four year-old boy in Lewiston who was shot and killed last year
He went to his pediatrician on Thursday
Pediatricians are mandated reporters in the State of Maine
The pediatrician was so concerned, the pediatrician attempted to report to the Department of health and human services, their concerns over this child.
The pediatrician called the department
The department did not answer
The department did not call the pediatrician back
This all happened on Thursday
On Saturday, the little boy was shot and killed, and an adult in the home has been accused of this crime
Initially, they tried to say that the gun went off when the children were playing with it
But the trigger required 11 pounds of hand pressure to be able to be pulled, and none of the children in the house had the strength to do it
Would the child be alive today if the Dept had answered the phone and reacted to the pediatricians concerns
There is no way to know that answer
What we know for a fact is, the Dept did not answer the phone when the mandated reporter attempted to mandatorily report concerns about the condition of the child and did not call the pediatrician back
