Yesterday, we lost a design icon. Peter Moore, a world leader in the athletic footwear industry, gave me my first job as an atheltic apparel designer at Adidas in 1993. I met him when I was a designer at Cross Colours in 1992. He told me he would bring me into Adidas in a year’s time. He kept his word. When Cross Colours closed down, I was unemployed for less than 24hrs. The rest is history.
In 2019, I was pleasantly surprised to see him walk through my door at the FAAS Design studio. (Through a few happy tears), I had the chance to tell him how much his belief in me was the catalyst to a phenomenal 25 year career and I shared what I had been able to do because he gave me that pivotal opportunity. Turns out, he already knew about my accomplishments because he had followed my path and watched it unfold over those two decades.
I’m sure this is only one story of many that will be shared in the coming days and years. I’m sending love and comfort to his family and those who had the opportunity to know him well. God speed. 🖤
