The name comes from a painful reality. 22 veterans die by su***de every single day. We believe purpose and community are powerful, and we are building both through the world of media and production.
We are currently in the process of pursuing nonprofit status, assembling our board, and laying the groundwork for something that we believe will make a real difference in the veteran community. We are actively recruiting people who are serious about showing up and putting in the work. This is a ground floor opportunity and it will require genuine commitment.
This is entirely volunteer-based as we work toward securing funding and a permanent headquarters. We have a plan in place and are moving forward with purpose.
We are looking for veterans and veteran-allied civilians across every area of operations. On the leadership and organizational side, we need people with backgrounds in business operations, logistics, nonprofit legal compliance, and finance. On the creative side, we are building out full production crews and developing skill-based curriculum around every role, including directing, producing, camera operation, editing, lighting, and audio. We welcome all levels of experience. If you are a seasoned professional or someone who has always wanted to learn, there is a place for you here if you are willing to put in the work.
We are also building a Board of Directors, a mentor tree, and an advisory board. If you have walked a path worth sharing and want to invest that experience into veterans finding their footing, we want to hear from you.
Board meetings will be held monthly. Our crew aims to meet weekly until we secure our own space. Our first production meeting is Thursday, February 26th and we want the right people in that room.
This project means everything to me. We are not just looking for anyone. We are looking for people who understand what it means to be part of a mission and are ready to commit to one.
If that is you, drop a comment below or send us a message. Tell us who you are, what you bring, and why this resonates with you. We will take it from there.

To the Veterans, First Responders, and Medical Professionals Who Serve, I’m Not in Your Boots. That’s Exactly Why I’m Here

My name is Zack Cross. I served in the Marine Corps, but I’ve never worn a badge, run toward a fire, patched someone up in the back of an ambulance, or taken a night shift in the ER.

I’m not a cop. I’m not a nurse. I’ve never worked dispatch, flown into a trauma call, or stabilized someone on a scene.

And that is exactly why I’m doing this.

I started Range 22 because I believe your stories matter. I’ve seen too many veterans and first responders struggle in silence. Too many go unheard, misunderstood, or reduced to headlines. That needs to change.

We’re building something, a platform to share the real, unfiltered experiences of those who serve. We’re interviewing:

Veterans
Police Officers
Firefighters
Dispatchers
EMTs and Paramedics
Flight Nurses
Nurses
Corrections
Medics
Anyone who shows up when others can’t

These interviews can be done your way.
On camera
Voice only
Anonymous
Voice disguised
Printed or dramatized

We’re based around Salem, Oregon, but we’re also doing phone and video interviews for those outside the area.

We want the full picture. The proud moments. The chaos. The heartbreak. The calls that stick with you. The humor that keeps you going. The things that civilians don’t see and may never understand.

We also want to talk about what matters moving forward. What advice would you give the next generation stepping into this work? What needs to change? What saved you? What broke you? What still makes it worth it?

Most of the team at Range 22 are veterans and first responders. You won’t be talking to a bunch of outsiders who don’t get it. And when you talk to me, you’ll be talking to someone who knows he hasn’t lived your life; but who is here to listen and make sure your voice gets heard with the respect it deserves.

I know some people will ask, who the hell is this guy. I get it. That’s fair.

If you want to start with something more casual, ask questions, or just talk it out before committing to anything, I’m here for that. No pressure. No spin. Just a conversation.

Whether your story is big or small, dramatic or simple, we want to hear it.

Thank you for showing up for others. Stay safe.
