If you live in Oregon and love using NATIONAL FOREST, you need to read this post!

The Oregon access you enjoy to the National Forest could very likely be FOREVER LOST forever under the guise of the “Forest Plan Revision” where thousands of acres will soon be REMOVED as a “National Forest” designation.

Do you enjoy having National Forest access in Oregon?
Do you enjoy camping, hiking and driving on roads in National Forest designated areas?

We'll this is all about to be taken away from you, leaving you a few measly areas that can be accessed.

Please check out Forest Access For All to learn more, then write a letter telling them why you think we should keep our national forests. Please email it to:

The massive dilution representing THOUSANDS of ACRES of national forest lands are shrinking right before your eyes if we don't let the USDA know just how serious we feel about this.
You can read all about this terrible and sad news by taking a look at Forest Access For All page. Please tell your friends. This is not a joke.

We need YOUR help to make sure that doesn’t happen…. PLEASE understand this is not just another bill that won’t affect you, nor is it a laughing matter.
Only a few days left until it might be too late. Please read the details below and tell your friends and ask them to leave their comments!

The National Forest we all have enjoyed for generations is under attack and we may loose access forever if we don’t make our voice heard by getting your comments in BY MAY 26th.
How can you help?

Write to the USDA and tell them why you think we should keep our National Forest areas and access to these areas.

take last minute comment.
This is all likely timed perfectly by the USDA as to silently remove our access, thousands of acres of access are lost! This has to STOP.
If you don't act, you'll see hundreds of gates going up stopping your access and your families access to hundreds of thousands of treasured acres in National Forest areas!

In case you don’t know, our National Forest is quietly being TAKEN FROM US. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ PLEASE READ — The RED you see in the map on this image is the ONLY first to an ongoing push to remove almost ALL national forest access in key areas of Oregon and restrict your access to the lands you've had access to for generations!

The Oregon access you enjoy to the National Forest could very likely be FOREVER LOST forever under the guise of the “Forest Plan Revision” where thousands of acres will soon be REMOVED as a “National Forest” designation. Yes, that’s right and NO, this is not a joke.

Looking forward to another year of excellent Oregon shots by John M Roberts Images 👏🏼🤩📸

A couple mornings ago I was heading to the Gorge but then saw some nice clouds over Mt. Hood while seeing nothing interesting in the sky else where. This time of year at this location the sun rises quite a bit to the north so I was figuring the sunrise color might just reach the mountain so I diverted my initial plans which can happen frequently.

As the sun got closer to the horizon I could see some clouds drift into the Gorge area. Damn, I should have just gone there yet enough soft colorful light did manage to surround Mt. Hood. I did venture into the Gorge though after this to catch what you see in the second pic.

The Gorge is GORGEOUS!! 😉🤩

Last night was my first successful aurora photoshoot and also my first Aurora sighting with the naked eye.

Photographed between Arlington and Rock Creek in Oregon, just a few miles from the Columbia River Gorge.

During the day still, I noticed the space weather numbers looking incredibly favorable Lady Aurora sighting. If those numbers held up until the evening, and if I could find clear skies, it would be almost certain I'd see her.

The caveat... 99% of the Pacific Northwest was socked in with clouds. I had no idea where to go, or what to shoot for an interesting subject.

I looked up cloud cover using Windy app, checking multiple weather models, meteogram forecast to compare cloud levels, and NOAA. A small sliver of Central Oregon and Central Washington showed a possible cloud break during dark night.

I scoured Google Earth for any potential subjects in those areas, which turned out to be mostly farmland. I found what looked to be some abandoned buildings and marked those on Google Maps. I cross-checked the location with a Dark Skies map to ensure there was no light pollution.

I got my gear packed and set off just before sunset. When I arrived at the location, the sky was already darkening. It was just me, in an unfamiliar place, with an eerie abandoned silo to keep me company in vast open fields.

I had an uneasy feeling about exploring the silo — abandoned places can give me the shivers sometimes. I killed sometime while waiting for the dark night to set in. When I got a couple of test shots, it was game on! Aurora was dancing away in her colorful garments!

Somehow I managed to push through the discomfort to get out of the car and walk around the abandoned silo in the middle of nowhere, by myself... I only scared myself a handful of times. 😂

When my eyes finally adjusted to the dark, I could see green pillars slowly forming and disappearing in the horizon. I let my creativity run wild playing with lights in between breaks to warm myself up in the car.

Thus was my first evening with Lady Aurora. I can't begin to imagine what it must be like in Iceland, Alaska, Norway, etc. What a magical phenomenon!

These are two quick photos I managed to pull just before going to bed.

Hope you enjoy!
