hey y’all ✨ it’s been a minute!
a lot has changed since I stepped away from cellar door about 5-6 years ago. the biggest and most obvious change is that i’m a girl now! 🏳️⚧️✨
my name is Elle (pronounced L) Madison Archer (she/her), and it’s lovely to meet all of you again! 💖
I founded the label at age 18 and handed it off to at around age 20 after having given it thousands upon thousands of hours of work and time. y’all may not remember this, but I dubbed all those tapes in real time, hand cut and folded every J card, wrote a little note, and shipped each tape out for the bulk of the time the label was operational. it was a truly insane amount of work, but the connections i made to musicians and listeners alike were so worth it and so foundational to how I operate in the music industry now.

it may not have been obvious to onlookers and fans of cellar door, but the entirety of the time I was running it, I was miserable, living in a conservative oil town with my parents, fully repressed, and ready to leave the earth at any time.
i left my hometown at age 22, came out later that year, and started HRT soon after. it was then that I began releasing music under the name Shaylee (), and in 2019, i released two albums to get the project started. then in 2020, by some miracle, i inked a record deal with and have since dropped lots of singles and an album entitled Short-Sighted Security, which feels like the ultimate culmination of all the work I’ve put into my music up to this point. it even got released on vinyl, achieving a dream I’d had for over a decade before realizing it.
that album just got released on cassette yesterday, which reminded me of the old days running this scrappy but inspired little label. I’m so grateful for all the love y’all gave me in that period of my life and music career. I hope y’all will continue to keep up with what I’m up to with and keep appreciating the art i put out into the world. your support has gone a very long way into making me who I am today, and for that, I deeply thank all of you 💖✨
