Hello friends!
Our debut album has been in the works for many years. It has taken several seasons of rehearsing, arranging, performing, fundraising, brainstorming, and preparing to get this album ready to be recorded—and we are just about ready to release it to the world! During the summer of 2021, we were lucky enough to work with local musician and recording engineer, Jason Phelps, at Acadia Recording Company in Portland, Maine. Jason put in many hours to get our debut album ready for release, and we are so grateful for his hard work.
Before we release the album we have a few people to thank—
First and foremost, thank you to our fearless leader, Carter Logan. He has taught us countless lessons about musicianship, performance, teamwork, and collaboration. Carter has been has been teaching music lessons and leading ensembles for many years, and the Maine music scene is better off because of his efforts.
Secondly, thank you to our wonderful families. When Flight first began playing together we were young teenagers. Our parents drove us to every rehearsal, helped arrange gigs and opportunities in the community, and cheered us on at each stage. We could not have done this without them!
Finally, thank YOU! We are very grateful to the fans who have attended our shows and listened to our music. As a band, we have connected with people of different ages and backgrounds. The connections we have made to our community through music are priceless. Thank you to all who showed up and shared the experience with us. We hope you enjoy the album, and continue supporting local music!

It’s the fifth day of Christmas and all though the studio, not a creature was stirring…wait it’s Sonic Libido!
On this 4th day of Christmas, we've got a tune by local pirate band, Shank Painters -- which involves a north pole take over and burning Santa's body on the coals of bad children. You can rely on the Shank Painters for a good story, so pay close attention to the lyrics. We also love a mask pic where you can tell everyone is beaming, we had such a great time working with them at the studio! Take a listen here >> https://acadiarecordingcompany.bandcamp.com/track/scrimshaw-for-christmas
What could we possibly be doing in this photo with Audio Wizard Jason Phelps and Oscar of Acadia Recording Company? That's right, new music! And not just any new music... a Christmas song! We had a blast being part of Acadia Recording Company's 12 Days of Christmas project! The link to the album will be LIVE on Christmas Day (tomorrow!)
If you're feeling the post Christmas slump, remember that it is merely the third day of Christmas! But this Joni Mitchell cover by Quad may make you feel all the feelings-- its hard to not get emotional over Devon Colella's gorgeous cello work delicately supported by Chris Wilkes on drums and piano in their rendition of River https://acadiarecordingcompany.bandcamp.com/track/river
from the album Fa-la-la à l'Acadia
Dom sleighed the vocals on the @realfrankiemoon cover of Last Christmas, our song for this second day of Christmas #wham https://acadiarecordingcompany.bandcamp.com/track/last-christmas
Merry Christmas everyone! On this first day of Christmas, we're sharing track one from our new xmas album, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, which is a certified banger. Featuring the inimitable Sean Mencher, Kris Day, and Joe Beninati as our house band, and Jason Phelps, Pat Keane, Todd Hutchisen, and Alice Anderson as Alice and the Sh*tmunks
from the album Fa-la-la à l'Acadia
On the first day of Christmas Acadia gives to thee… Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, including authentic sounds of a drum set being knocked over. Go listen on bandcamp https://acadiarecordingcompany.bandcamp.com/track/rockin-around-the-christmas-tree
We are so happy to present Fa-la-la à l’Acadia, which features a brilliant group of musicians who rallied together to help us spread some good cheer to your ears. It features both covers and originals and we’ll be sharing some behind the scenes over the next 12 days of Christmas! We hope you have a safe and healthy holiday season 💚 https://www.acadiarecording.com/fa-la-la-a-lacadia/

The track is from his debut album 'Into the Open.'
Had a great tracking session today with the guys from An Overnight Low and their special guest, the incredible Brad Terry on the clarinet. What a treat to hear the man play!
Portland Maine shout out in Bandcamp Daily:
A small but fervent community of musicians based in and around Portland has quietly built one of the strongest regional black metal scenes in the country.

We made it to the The New England Shake-Up this past weekend for Sean Mencher's Rockin' Afternoon! Here's a clip of Sean Mencher playing with Bobby Trimble (of Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys), Chris Casello (The Chris Casello Trio), Graham Tichy, and Jesse Woeful during his seminar on the 1976 RCA Victor record, Chester and Lester. We're looking forward to another session using the old Event Record's gear with Michael Hurtt's Haunted Hearts this week!
Caleb Mars Hickman is back at Acadia! Caleb rented the studio for the entire week (including a full day of tracking during the blizzard) and we've been working hard on his new album "The Magic Eye"
Well, it's almost the end of the year, but there is still time to fill yer ears with bad christmas music... Happy Holidays everyone!
Here's a little preview of some of the sounds coming out of this session... Get ready for a great record from Cushing
We spent a lot of time making crazy good sounds this weekend with Mome.
A testament to the enduring power of analog tape - this 1/2" 8-track reel is 34 years old!! Thank you to Nick for the use of the Teac 80-8...
In this weekend we have The Hadacol Bouncers. A New Orleans traditional Jazz Band fronted by Tom Whitehead and Peter Dunphy. We are tracking both to the Analog room straight 1/4" mono (no overdubs) and to our digital front end as well. Best of both worlds! Looking forward to tracking tomorrow as well.
We got a pretty fun shout out on The Mike O'Meara Show over the holidays-- we treated their vocals with melodyne pitch correction software, and...well... listen below for the result. Catch the whole episode here: http://mikeomearashow.com/2016/12/1671-xmas-letter-year/
If you've ever wanted to sit in on one of our 9-hour sessions to see just how weird things get, here's a look at what we were up to last week with Eyeball...recording an album full of thrashy goodness. Video footage from Ida Lapwing.
