Taking a risk is not for the faint-of-heart.
I was at a crossroads in my career, saw a niche, did some research, and decided to move forward:
15 years ago today I hung up my little shingle.
Over these years, Gorodesign (that’s me!) has produced thousands upon thousands of designs, received design awards (yay!), has contributed to the to selling of millions of dollar’s worth of exhibit properties (Gorodesign doesn’t receive all of that, mind you…), helped to ideate and launch several exhibit product lines, launched Goro-designed exhibits to all corners of the world (save Antarctica), and spent many, many late nights and overnight work sessions to ensure on-time delivery of designs for clients in need.
And I can’t neglect to mention those I’ve collaborated with, including other design firms, exhibit manufacturers, end users, and more. Throughout these 15 years I’ve received support, guidance, mentorship from hundreds of these folks and have the pleasure of considering many of them to be life-long friends and, yes, family.
It does go without saying that without the support of my dear wife Kelli, Gorodesign could very well have not become the business it is today.
The design requests are still flying in to my in-box but for today I will take a few moments to pause for a bit, look back over 15 years of nostalgia, crack a slight grin, take a deep breath and carry on.
Tomorrow will be 15 years plus one day. I continue to move forward.
I thank you all for your part in my and Gorodesign’s journey.
Erik
