Altrusa International - Portland, Maine Club We are a non-profit club devoted to delivering books and literacy, scholarships, and serving our communities. Love, Literacy and Legacy.

Portland Altrusa meets twice a month for ten months, September through June. The business meeting is held at 6pm on the first Wednesday of each month at the Westbrook Community Center (WCC), 426 Bridge St, Westbrook in the Oak Room. Our program meeting is held at 6pm on the third Wednesday of each month and the location may vary. Contact us to confirm the location each month (WCC, Zoom or at a loc

al restaurant). Message us to confirm meeting information and location each month. Altrusans also participate in regular community service activities throughout the year. Our projects include:

Last evening, at our monthly business meeting, we welcomed 2 new Altrusans. As part of their initiation Ceremony, their Sponsor, Debbie LePage Lemieux presented them with their Altrusa pin, and Patricia Ledger-Maxim had each of them add a link to our Chain of Service.
Growing our club expands our outreach and strengthens the delivery of our Altrusa
Mission if Love, Literacy and Legacy.

Altrusans were onsite today at the Old Robie School where Cricket Comforts
Held their Fall Pillowcase Dash.

So many Cricket Comfort stitchers come together once a month to create colorful, fun Burrito Pillowcases that are gifted to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Med.
From small beginnings, starting in Heidi Farrin’s kitchen, they have grown to be able to deliver around 2000 pillowcases a year.

Altrusa Portland matches books to the themed pillowcases for the pediatric patients.

Debbie LePage Lemieux and Christine Born Johnson were pleased to work along side this great group of gals.

Proud to partner with them.

These fine Altrusans spent a few hours sorting and stickering hundreds of books from the Books-A-Million South Portland
Bookdrive this summer. Thankyou to all the generous patrons of BAM and especially to BAM for their support of our ABC Project. Altrusans give books. And there are several thousand area kindergarteners that take home a Brand-New Forever book. Our ABC project will be kicking into high gear this fall.
