The accommodations can include:

- Reassigning tasks that include heavy lifting

There's a measure on this year's ballot that should be getting a LOT more attention. Amazing thread by
It's called Measure ULA, and it's a once-in-a-decade chance to radically address the housing crisis and make LA affordable for ALL.
In case you hadn't noticed, LA is in the midst of a stifling housing crisis. 60% of renting Angelenos are rent-burdened, meaning they spent more than 1/3rd of their income on rent.
Housing is so unaffordable that homelessness has increased 31% in just the past 4 years.
The causes are many: falling renter income; landlords who evict tenants so they can raise the rent; a massive drop in new home / apt buildings after 2008; and wealthy homeowners who see housing as a way to build wealth rather than a place to live.
Measure ULA addresses ALL of these issues through an ingenious mechanism: a small 4-5% tax on the sale of real estate over $5 million. This teeny tax on the wealthiest people and corporations would raise nearly a BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to fight homelessness and the housing crisis
What would the money be spent on?
🏠Emergency rental assistance for seniors at risk of homelessness

I have no words 😤
“So it seems like Florida gave FoxNews an exclusive, but didn't tell anyone in Martha's Vineyard, or even tell the migrants where they were going.
This has enormously damaging implications for the migrants, who will have to leave the island for court hearings and check-ins.
I imagine the State of Florida likely convinced these people to get on the plane with the equivalent of a "free candy" van, luring them on board with a promise of a trip from the border that they didn't have to pay for, then dropped them off in a deliberately inconvenient place.
Neither Florida nor Texas gave Martha's Vineyard a heads up (by design). The goal was a Fox News exclusive showing local officials scrambling to respond, which they say is what Texas has to do all the time—ignoring that Texas HAS resources in place.
Over the years, dedicated humanitarians at the border like Sister Norma Pimental have built a network of shelters and service providers to help migrants get to their ultimate destination.
These services DO NOT EXIST in places like Martha's Vineyard.
There is no doubt whatsoever that border communities have shouldered a lot of responsibility and faced challenges over the last decade with the rise of asylum seekers at the border.
These busses and planes don't fix anything. They're using human beings as a political weapon.
The bussing programs are hideously expensive. If Arizona or Texas actually cared about getting migrants out of state, it could just buy them bus tickets at a fraction of the price.
But doing that doesn't get them on Fox News. And that's the point.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that all 50 refugees who were sent to Martha's Vineyard today are reportedly Venezuelan.
Last year, DeSantis designated a "Victims of Communism" day in Florida.
Guess Venezuelans don't matter to him anymore.”

I WANT TO KNOW why major networks did not cover Biden's speech last week.

Last week, President Biden spoke on “The Continued Battle for the Soul of the Nation.”
He talked about the importance of defending democracy, reminding Americans about their heritage: a fight for liberty that has preserved the nation through wars, depressions, and struggles to expand civil rights.
He said that "That mission still drives us toward an America that is more prosperous, free, and just.”
But “we must be honest with each other and with ourselves.”
Biden isolated MAGA Republicans from the rest of the country and said that “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
Unfortunately, “the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country.”
MAGA Republicans “do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election. And they’re working right now, as I speak, in state after state to give power to decide elections in America to partisans and cronies, empowering election deniers to undermine democracy itself.”
“The soul of America is defined by the sacred proposition that all are created equal in the image of God. That all are entitled to be treated with decency, dignity, and respect. That all deserve justice and a shot at lives of prosperity and consequence. And that democracy…must be defended, for democracy makes all these things possible. Folks, and it’s up to us.”

A federal judge in Texas has ruled that a provision of the Affordable Care Act that mandates free coverage of certain drugs that prevent HIV infections violate the religious beliefs of a Christian-owned company.
Per : “The decision could "cripple" HIV prevention efforts, particularly among communities of color and Americans in poverty, said Paul Kawata, executive director of NMAC, a national organization that works for health equity and racial justice to end the HIV epidemic. It could also set back the bipartisan effort to end the HIV epidemic by 2030.
"For many people at higher risk of HIV, employer-provided insurance is often their only way to access these vital medications," he said. "This decision has the potential to cut off millions of Americans from the life-protecting medications they need."”

Do you know about Mississippi's water crisis?
Hundreds of thousands of people don't have access to safe drinking water in Jackson, Mississippi.
Jackson is the state's capital and its largest city. Its water supply has been in crisis for years, crippled by aging and inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of public resources to fix it.
Jackson's residents have put up with disruptions and frequent boil-water notices because of cloudiness and impurities found in water samples.
Last week things got much worse. The city’s largest water treatment plant began failing.
“Until it is fixed, it means we do not have reliable running water at scale,” Gov. Tate Reeves (R-MS) said during an emergency briefing.
“It means the city cannot produce enough water to fight fires, to reliably flush toilets, and to meet other critical needs.”
The situation was exacerbated by days of torrential rain raising the threat of flooding in Jackson. The water level rose high enough to affect water treatment operations.
Before the flooding began, Jackson's water system was already at a breaking point.
Emergency management officials started gathering thousands of bottles of water to distribute at the city’s fire stations, with the government encouraging residents of greater means to buy their own water.
People can't bathe, can't brush their teeth, and children can't go to school because of the water crisis in Mississippi.
But this is not something recent. The reality is that this is decades old.
When public schools were no longer allowed to segregate, a lot of white families with money left Jackson. This led to a decrease in the city's income from taxes.
Because the city's economy was declining, middle-class Black families also left, leading to a decline in the city's population.
Mississippi is the poorest state in the nation, but Jackson is even poorer than the state as a whole. Per capita income is just $21,906.

Experts in classified information said the unusual search underscores deep concern among government officials about the types of information they thought could be located at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and potentially in danger of falling into the wrong hands.”

“Let me explain the difference between Hillary’s emails and what’s happening now.
Hillary used a private BUT SECURED server to conduct work that involved classified docs. As a primary matter, she got PERMISSION to do so, and her server was set up to satisfy the specs of the DOS for the handling and transmission of such information.
Every document that went through that server was allowed to do so when DOS gave her permission for the level of classification at issue.
There are different levels of security designation for documents & only people with corresponding clearance are allowed to see them.
Hillary wasn’t charged because the Secretaries before her had done the same thing, and there was NO EVIDENCE that any classified docs got out of the chain of trackable custody.
They would know this because EVERY classified doc is given its own number for tracking purposes.
So the accusation against Hillary morphed from mishandling, or failing to secure classified docs, to discussing classified info in non-classified correspondence.
Out of the thousands of emails, they found less than ten that discussed anything remotely related to classified info, and determined that they were so minor that they couldn’t prove the elements of the crime (although God knows they wanted to).
Nothing classified was found on Huma Abbedien’s laptop, just some of Hillary’s emails that she worked on.
Contrast that with Trump walking out of the WH with cases of top secret documents, without notifying anyone, and storing them in a location that was unsecured and open to all manner of people.
Keep in mind that the Sec of State, while having access to a lot, does NOT have the same access as the Commander in Cheif. All of our top national security and clandestine ops info can be accessed by the CINC, not so much the Sec State. And even if the Sec State has the clearance, they don’t have a need to know.
So the two situations are nowhere near comparable.

Michigan state senator Mallory McMorrow responds to a colleague who called her a “groomer” in a fundraising email because McMorrow stood up against marginalizing Michigan’s LGBTQ population. McMorrow stood up against all the hate coming from the Republican party. She brought up how she’s “a straight, white, Christian, married suburban mom” and pointed out that “people who are different are not the reason that our roads are in bad shape… or that healthcare costs are too high, or that teachers are leaving the profession. “We cannot let hateful people tell you otherwise to scapegoat and deflect from the fact that they are not doing anything to fix the real issues that impact people’s lives.” Meanwhile, her Christian colleagues are more worried about “performative nonsense”. She reminded them that “each and every single one of us bears responsibility for writing the next chapter of history. [We decide] what happens next, and how WE respond to history and the world around us.” “We will not let hate win.”
