Fleeced again

A $36 million agreement between VDOT and Elizabeth River Crossings will wipe out outstanding toll balances and related fees that have piled up since 2014.

According to VDOT, the state finalized negotiations with Elizabeth River Crossings to redeem these overdue toll debts and remove registration holds placed on drivers.

The deal covered tolls and fees owed through December 31, 2023, for drivers whose DMV registration showed they lived in Portsmouth or Norfolk when the debt was incurred.

In 2023 I campaigned on making sure utility companies were properly taking care of the equipment including poles. Last night City Council voted to allow for Verizon to maintain and install cable throughout the city. I would hope they continue to hold them all accountable in these agreements to prevent this from being fatal. The General Assembly needs to their part for the safety of all Virginians as well.
