Hampton School District sets key dates for 2026 Annual Meeting

HAMPTON — The Hampton School District has released the schedule for its 2026 School District Meeting, outlining a series of public sessions, voting dates, and filing deadlines that will shape next year’s school governance and budget decisions.

The process begins with the Hampton Budget Committee’s public hearing on both the school and town budgets, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. in Hampton Town Hall. The hearing gives residents an early opportunity to review and comment on proposed spending plans.

The first session of the Annual Meeting—known as the deliberative session—will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Hampton Academy auditorium, with a snow date of Feb. 5. During this session, registered voters will discuss and amend the warrant articles that will later appear on the official ballot.

The second session, Hampton’s traditional voting day, is set for Tuesday, March 10. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Winnacunnet High School dining hall. Absentee ballots will be available through the Town Clerk’s office during regular hours until Monday, March 9.

Voters will elect one school board member to a three‑year term ending in 2029. Candidates may file with the Town Clerk beginning Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026; the filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30.
The district will post the full warrant and the HB 1265 report by Jan. 26 at Town Hall, Lane Library, and Hampton Schools. Supporting materials—including the proposed operating budget and detailed warrant article information—will also be available on the SAU 90 website under the operations section.

Seabrook Station emergency planning brochure now available

SEABROOK — New Hampshire emergency management officials will mail the 2026 Seabrook Station emergency planning brochure this week to residents and businesses located within the 10‑mile Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) surrounding the nuclear power plant.

The annually updated brochure outlines the four emergency classification levels, notification methods, and step‑by‑step instructions for shelter‑in‑place or evacuation should an emergency occur. It also includes an emergency assistance card, information on potassium iodide (KI), and contact details for local communities and the state.

Communities within the EPZ include Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Greenland, Hampton, Hampton Falls, Kensington, Kingston, New Castle, Newfields, Newton, North Hampton, Portsmouth, Rye, Seabrook, South Hampton and Stratham. Officials encourage anyone who lives, works, or vacations in the zone to review the materials and be familiar with emergency procedures.

Residents who do not receive a brochure may request one by emailing [email protected]. Additional preparedness information is available at ReadyNH.gov.
