Outlook Newspaper The Outlook is the official newspaper of its hometown, Monona, Iowa, as well as the neighboring community of Luana.

The Outlook is the official newspaper of its hometown, Monona, Iowa, as well as the neighboring communities of Farmersburg and Luana, as well as the MFL MarMac school district. The offices of The Outlook are located at 116 West Center Street in downtown Monona. The weekly newspaper is published every Wednesday and is available by subscription, in the office and at local newsstands. Started in 1999

, The Outlook has experienced a number of owners throughout the years. Since January 2015, Mid-America Publishing, headquartered in Hampton, Iowa, has owned and published The Outlook. Mid-America Publishing owns 24 newspapers and shoppers in Iowa. They include weeklies from neighboring communities Postville (The Herald) and Calmar (The Courier) as well as communities farther afield like Grundy Center and Keota.

Starting the first week in February the southeast side of town (light green area on map), Garbage & Recycling will change to FRIDAYS. *The rotation will stay the same (every other week/Friday for recycling and on the same weeks it had been, and garbage every Friday).
*A calendar was posted previously but was on not correct so please make sure you have the correct one. That (incorrect) calendar and the other calendar posted and available at City Hall is correct for all other residents.
*THE ONLY RESIDENTS AFFECTED ARE THE ONES SOUTH OF E IOWA ST (including those on the south side of E Iowa St) AND TO THE EAST OF MAIN ST (including those on the east side of Main St).

Auditions for the 2026 middle school play are this Friday, January 9th after school at the McGregor Center. Auditions are open to all 7th & 8th graders. Rehearsal will begin Monday, Jan 12th with performances on March 27 & 28. Save the dates!

Here is the latest information concerning snow and freezing drizzle this afternoon through Wednesday. Please utilize this information in your planning and coordination.

Snow and freezing drizzle will continue to develop into the area over the course of this afternoon. Highest potential for freezing drizzle will be along and west of the Mississippi River with mostly snow expected east of the Mississippi River. Freezing drizzle and snow may result in slippery road conditions so be sure to take it slow when driving this afternoon.

Weather-related delivery delay
Due to recent weather conditions, delivery of The Outlook and Postville Herald will be delayed by one day this week. Under normal circumstances, the paper is available on newsstands Tuesday mornings and delivered to local mailboxes Wednesdays. This week, readers can expect to find the newspaper on newsstands Wednesday morning, with local home delivery through the mail arriving Thursday. Please keep in mind that mail delivery could be further delayed because of the upcoming New Year holiday, as post offices will be closed on January 1.
