Next week, a probate trial determining the fate of Dan Peek's potentially millions of dollars worth of royalties will be held in St. Francois County Courthouse in front of Judge Patrick King. Dan's wife Catherine (Maberry) died in March of 2021 and the case centers on who should rightfully inherit Catherine's estate -- which includes Dan Peek's music rights. Dan Peek was a Grammy Award winner, and an original member of the band America, whose song "A Horse with No Name" was a number 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1972.

The hits keep coming for the St. Francois County Sheriff's department: Deputy David Blankenship was arrested for s*xual exploitation of a minor. Hopefully nothing important to the investigation of his criminal activity was stored on the Sheriff's department server that was accidentally wiped a month ago.

We need to be more discerning of the power that we give law enforcement.

A Daily Journal article from 2004 is resurfacing which involves yet another alleged scandal from St. Francois County Sheriff's Department. Former jailers CRAIG WOOD and JEREMY WADE IVY were arrested on charges of having s*xual contact with inmates at the county jail. We are attempting to acquire the records related to this case.
