This is one of my most requested itinerary for fall in the northeast!

These are the best routes through New York and New England to chase the best fall colors if you want to see as much as possible in a short amount of time.

🍁 Save and share this for your planning because you’ll need to follow these stops in order to have the best chance at following the colors as they change

Foliage also HIGHLY depends on the weather, so check foliage trackers for the most current date foliage updates and try to stay flexible!

🚘 9 Day VT - NH - Maine Itinerary:
• Day 1: Arrive in Vermont (BYV), drive to Stowe
• Day 2: Stowe, VT and Green Mountains
• Day 3 - 4: White Mountains, NH
• Day 5-6: Acadia National Park, ME
• Day 7: Portland, ME
• Day 8: Woodstock VT
• Day 9: Head home

🚘 12 Day Upstate New York and New England Itinerary:
• Day 1: Arrive in NY
• Day 2-3: Adirondack Mountains, NY
• Day 4: Stowe, VT
• Day 5-6: White Mountains NH
• Day 7 - 8: Acadia National Park, Maine
• Day 9: Salem, MA
• Day 10: Berkshires, MA
• Day 11: Catskill Mountains, NY
• Day 12: Depart NYC or continue to the Finger Lakes Region and Letchworth State Park, NY

Shoes can be the hardest part of travel, especially when you know you’ll be walking a ton.

If you’re going somewhere warm, these are the travel sandals I’d recommend from

👉 Save this for when you pack for your next trip!

👣 Tracker Ora Sandals: My new favorite walking sandal. These truly cover all the bases - they’re perfect for travel days, short hikes, and whenever you’ll walk a lot on uneven terrain + they’re waterproof. I also threw a pair of socks on with them for the plane

👣 Sensus Yins: Incredibly light and pack down to literally nothing. So cute with dresses - these ones replaced flip flops and my Birks. The sole on these is very thin, so you’ll definitely want to work your way up to walking a lot in them if you’re not used to barefoot shoes

These covered all the bases for me almost every day to walk 20,000 steps in Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia and Japan.

I also packed the Vivobarefoot Jungle ESC hiking boots for one of the coolest multi-day treks we’ve ever done (stayed tuned for that!)
