"Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous."

(Al-A'raaf 7: Verse 196)

"And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness."

(QS. Al-Israa 17: Verse 4)

Surah Al-Isra 17:4 is Allah informing the Children of Israel about a prophecy recorded in their own Scripture: that they would cause great corruption on earth twice, and would become extremely arrogant and powerful.

This verse doesn’t specify dates or events – scholars have given different historical interpretations – but the core message is clear: Allah warns that power and status come with responsibility. When a nation abandons justice and spreads corruption despite being given guidance, consequences follow.

The verse reminds us that divine knowledge precedes human action, and that arrogance, or “great haughtiness”, often comes right before downfall. It’s a timeless warning about the danger of corruption, pride, and turning away from guidance, no matter who you are.

يٰيَحْيٰى خُذِ الْكِتٰبَ بِقُوَّةٍ ۗ وَاٰ تَيْنٰهُ الْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا

"[Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy"

(QS. Maryam 19: Verse 12)

This verse is part of the story of Prophet Yahya, peace be upon him, also known as John the Baptist. Allah is speaking directly to him after announcing his birth to his father Zakariya.

✅️ “O Yahya, take the Scripture with determination”

“Take the Book with strength” means: hold onto the Torah firmly, study it deeply, act on it seriously, and teach it without hesitation. Allah is calling Yahya to carry the responsibility of prophethood from a young age, with full commitment, not casually.

✅️ “And We gave him wisdom/judgement while he was still a boy”

“_Hukm_” here means sound judgement, understanding of the Scripture, and prophethood. The remarkable part is “_sabiyyan_” – while he was a child/young boy. Most prophets received revelation as adults, but Allah gave Yahya deep wisdom early. Classical scholars say he began preaching and living with piety from childhood, avoiding play and distractions, because he knew his role.

➡️ Key points scholars highlight:

1. Early responsibility: It shows that age isn’t a barrier if Allah grants wisdom. Yahya’s sincerity and focus let him carry a heavy duty young.
2. “Strength” in taking the Book: Not just memorizing, but implementing it, teaching it, and standing firm on truth even when it’s hard. Yahya was later known for his asceticism and courage in speaking truth to those in power.
3. Connection to the next verses: Right after this, Allah describes Yahya as compassionate, dutiful to his parents, and pure – the character that matched the “strength” he was given.

So the verse is both a command and a gift: Allah commands Yahya to take the Scripture seriously, and tells us He already equipped him with the wisdom to do it, even in his youth.

"And they had already promised Allah before not to turn their backs and flee. And ever is the promise to Allah [that about which one will be] questioned."

(Al-Ahzaab 33: Verse 15)

"And We certainly created you, [O Mankind], and gave you form. Then We said to the angels, ‘Prostrate to Adam’; so they prostrated, except for Iblis. He was not to be of those who prostrate.”

"ہم نے تمہاری تخلیق کی ابتدا کی، پھر تمہاری صورت بنائی، پھر فرشتوں سے کہا آدمؑ کو سجدہ کرو اس حکم پر سب نے سجدہ کیا مگر ابلیس سجدہ کرنے والوں میں شامل نہ ہوا"

(Al-A'raf 7: Verse 11)

"A Reminder of Creation & Obedience" 🌅📖

“And We certainly created you, [O Mankind], and gave you form. Then We said to the angels, ‘Prostrate to Adam’; so they prostrated, except for Iblis. He was not to be of those who prostrate.”
— Qur’an 7:11

This powerful verse reminds us of 3 profound truths:

1. Our Honor in Creation
Allah did not create us by accident. He fashioned us with purpose, gave us form, and honored humanity by commanding the angels to prostrate to Adam ﷺ. You are not forgotten. You are created with intention.

2. The Lesson of Obedience
The angels obeyed instantly. Their example teaches us that true submission to Allah is immediate and without hesitation. It’s a call to check our own hearts: when Allah’s command comes, do we delay or obey?

3. The Danger of Arrogance
Iblis refused out of pride and ego. He saw himself as better, and that one moment of arrogance led to his fall. This verse is a warning for all of us — no matter our knowledge or status, arrogance separates us from Allah’s mercy.

Let this verse settle in your heart today. Remember where you came from, who you worship, and why humility is the path to Jannah.
