Starting the regular season with a pair of neutral site games in Ephraim, Utah, the Northwest College women’s soccer team kicked off the year 1-1, losing a difficult contest last Thursday to Yavapai College 1-0 out of Prescott, Arizona. The Trappers rebounded last Friday, defeating a Region IX opponent in Western Nebraska Community College 5-2 in a nonconference matchup.

The Northwest College men’s soccer team continues to wade through tough competition, as the Trappers took on two ranked opponents on the road in Utah on last Thursday and Saturday. A late goal from No. 17-ranked Snow College prevented the Trappers from coming home unbeaten in a 2-1 loss before Northwest took down No. 9 ranked Salt Lake Community College 1-0.

Fall sports are back in full swing this week and this will serve as the update post for all Powell High School varsity athletics and Northwest College athletics for the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 3. Small updates regarding each varsity and college sport will be updated in the comment section daily as soon as results become available.

PHS SCHEDULE
The week kicks off with golf in Worland on Thursday and Friday. The Panther tennis team heads to Jackson on Friday as well as Sheridan on Saturday for a pair of conference matchups.
Cross country is set to race in Billings on Friday, while volleyball takes part in the Lander Invitational with games against Shoshoni and Farson-Eden Friday, as well as Wyoming Indian and Big Piney on Saturday.
Football heads to Riverton to kick off its season Friday night, while girls' swimming heads to Lander for an invitational on Saturday.

NWC SCHEDULE
Northwest College volleyball heads out to start the regular season on Friday and Saturday in Gillette. The Trappers take on Dakota College at Bottineau and Miles Community College Friday before taking on Dawson CC and Williston State College on Saturday.
The Trapper soccer teams remain on the road, heading to Washington and Idaho to take on Pacific Northwest Christian College on Friday and North Idaho College on Saturday.
