Happens to the best. Maybe it’s nerves, maybe it’s not being familiar with the shift in labor where mom turns inward, either way, most Dads have made some sort of joke at the wrong time, catching dagger eyes or choice words from Mom. Did you experience ill timed (well intentioned) humor in labor?

Heard this old vine sound and had to use it. 40 weeks, 4th baby, took some castor oil (not blindly recommending it for anyone) at 1:30 PM had cramps most of the afternoon, then around 8 PM noticed regular contractions 5-10 minutes apart but not painful, called the midwife at 10:17, he was born at 10:53 PM. While it did hurt, it was pretty cool. Thankful for healthy baby and no complications on my end (besides a 2nd degree tear, booo).

Tomorrow we are meeting at Lochner park!!! Address 906 S. Wacouta ave. I will bring juice pops! It will be beautiful but warm out! I’ll be getting there around 9:30, and will stay until 11:30! Bring a friend ☺️

Working on the couch wasn’t working anymore, needed something more official. I said I’d never go back to school after my bachelors, guess I just needed to find something I was actually passionate about! As much as I loved drawing and painting, this is different.

Birth can push us in ways we truly sometimes can’t prepare for. The variations that can unfold are sometimes situations that your doula and midwife can’t predict or try to explain beforehand. You just have to work through it, and have your birth team by your side. All birth shows us the strength of women. But hard births can humble even the experienced birth team to remind us how deep women can dig to meet their baby. If this was a painting, I’d want to name it “Victory”. Shared with permission.
