Skyline Families,

We have received an updated weather report that puts Pratt County at the highest risk for large hail and tornadoes from 2:00PM-5:00PM. Because of the timing and risk involved, we will be dismissing school at 1:00PM today, Monday, May 6th 2024.

There will be no PM PreK class today or evening activities or practices.

As we mentioned yesterday to be Weather Aware Today. Below is a briefing from NOAA on the timing of storms today.

Weather update from NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center: "A significant severe weather outbreak, including long-track tornadoes, will unfold across Kansas and Oklahoma today. The outbreak of severe weather is forecast to begin midday or early this afternoon across west central Kansas. The highest threat area will be farther east across central and south central Kansas, which is where numerous long-track supercell storms will be possible, including very large hail 3-inch or greater in diameter and destructive, long-track tornadoes."

Be weather aware tomorrow as the NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center now calls for a Level 4 of 5 for Severe Weather for our listening area

The latest severe weather outlook from the NWS Storm Prediction Center now calls for a Level 4 of 5 (MODERATE RISK), which includes much of south central Kansas, including Pratt, Medicine Lodge, and Kiowa (city) in our NWS Dodge City area of responsibility. Please have a plan of action in case severe weather threatens Monday afternoon into the early evening hours.
