Current temperature.... FREEZING 🥶!

01/09/2026

Dear PVCS Families,

Due to the extreme cold temperatures expected throughout the day tomorrow, local school districts have announced a two-hour delay. Because Fridays at PVCS already operate on a shortened schedule with early release around 1:00 p.m., and Friday attendance is optional for students, combining a potential late start with early dismissal does not make practical sense.

For the safety of our students and families—and to avoid unnecessary travel on icy roads—we have decided to close our campuses for students tomorrow.

There will be no optional Friday school on Friday, January 9.

Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize safety. Please stay warm, and we look forward to seeing students back on campus next week.

2-HOUR DELAY - FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 2026:

PUSD Families,

The Prescott Streets Department tells us that today's snow came later and wetter than expected (just before pick up time at our schools--Ugh!) While most streets are already clear of snow, most are quite wet still. Additional snow is unlikely, but temperatures will be below freezing through tomorrow morning, leading to icy road conditions in the early morning.

To allow for daylight to improve the safety of our commute, PUSD will be on a 2-hour delay tomorrow. We will not have typical before-school classes, clubs, or breakfast. Please visit our PUSD website for full information about weather delays. School dismissal will be at the usual Friday time. We encourage you to drive carefully and to give yourself extra time for tomorrow's late commute.

Prescott has a variety of elevations and streets. While school attendance is very important, please make travel decisions that you feel are safe and best for your family. If your family members must avoid travel due to specific road conditions in your part of town, our schools will be flexible.

Thank you,
PUSD Administration
