THE FISHERMAN - Opening Night Film
Our Opening Night Film is a magical adventure from Ghana to the big screen!

🌊 The Fisherman tells the story of Atta Oko, a retired fisherman whose life is upended when he encounters a bougie talking fish. Accompanied by three quirky associates, Atta embarks on a hilarious journey through modern Accra to fulfill his dream of owning a boat.

The film’s director, Zoey Martinson, rose to national attention as a finalist on Issa Rae’s Project Greenlight and has created acclaimed work for Hulu and Tribeca Studios. Recognized for
blending storytelling with social impact, she’s received major honors including commissions from the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Screening!

Join PFF as We Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America!
May 17th, 3:00pm

J&LLPAC on the Prescott Campus of Yavapai College

Let's all watch this iconic Jimmy Steward film, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, together, on the big screen! This will be followed by a post-film discussion lead by film critic and Prescott Film Festival Jury Member Jeff Mitchell.

A bit of history on the film: Based on Lewis R Foster’s unpublished story, The Gentleman from Montana, you won’t hear states’ names or the character’s political affiliation in Mr. Smith. Casting: Jimmy Stewart was no stranger to playing the “good guy” in films. He inherited this particular role after Gary Cooper’s schedule conflicted with other projects. Stewart's ...newbie persona translates perfectly to his performance of Smith as an equally wide-eyed man entering his career for the first time.
