The complex network of Arizona's "food system" is far more than a simple chain—it's a massive, cooperative effort.

Our latest issue introduces one of the key "food movers," Andrea McAdow of Rosebird Farms. Recognizing that Arizona's agricultural seasons flip-flop from south to north, McAdow built Rosebird as a regional aggregation and distribution hub, connecting Northern Arizona with seasonally shifting abundance.

Rosebird Farms doesn’t operate alone. They are part of a vital statewide food hub network. This intentional system works alongside partners like Sun Produce Cooperative and Pivot Produce in the south. Together, they coordinate harvest windows, refrigerated transport, and delivery routes that span hundreds of miles.

This shared focus on logistics and distribution allows small producers to spend less time on marketing and more time farming.

Supporting local means supporting this essential infrastructure. By choosing local, you're helping Rosebird, Sun Produce, and Pivot build a more equitable foodshed where local products are accessible to everyone.

Step into the studio, and you’re met with an opportunity to experience something powerful: your own ability.

This Flagstaff nonprofit, founded in 2019, is committed to proving that textile arts are more than a hobby; they are a vital path to empowerment and an avenue to reconnect with our innate creative gifts.

Recently, Threaded Together chose to amplify its mission by assuming responsibility for presenting the annual Flag Wool & Fiber Festival. This is Arizona’s largest celebration of fiber arts, bringing together producers, artisans, indigenous traditions, and even "delightfully silly" camels.

Beyond the Plate: The Unsung Role of Fiber in Agriculture

We often focus on food when we talk about agriculture, but what about the clothing on our backs?

Our latest issue introduces you to Diane Braun, owner of who is keeping the ancient traditions of textile arts alive. Her fascination with medieval history inspired her to start raising Cotswold sheep, a rare breed with a unique history of their own.

Braun’s work—from spinning to weaving on her Baby Wolf loom—is a celebration of "slow fashion." She reminds us that handmade, high-quality textiles are sustainable investments, built to last a lifetime. This craft connects back to historical processes, emphasizing that skill and raw materials are everything.

Gerardo's Pizzeria: What's the Secret Behind the Sedona Landmark?

In a town known for its stunning views, Gerardo’s Pizzeria is known for something deeper: a rare, multi-generational dedication to authenticity that began over a century ago in a Detroit produce business.

What truly makes this Sedona icon special isn't just the warmth of its wood-burning oven, but the values of the family that own it. Gerardo Moceri and his son, Gerri, have fused Old World training with an unwavering dedication to the future, sourcing ingredients from local producers and farms that actively restore soil health for the generations to come.

Their philosophy is evident in every aspect of the business, from the current flour blend being used in their dough to the kitchen scraps collected for composting. When you visit Gerardo’s, you’re not just ordering a pizza—you’re investing in a legacy built on craft, community, and a deep concern for people before profit.

Anyone else happy to see soup weather?
This delicious twist on Osso Buco was shared with us by in Skull Valley.

One of the many reasons we appreciate the recipe is that it uses a "lesser" cut of meat. In our world, less is more! Beef shanks are nutrient-dense and rich in collagen. They are also less expensive than 🥩.

You'll find the recipe in our fourth issue, and soon, on our website.
