Scott brings 25 years of experience as a fish biologist specializing in habitat and watershed restoration to his work as an outdoor writer. That scientific background, paired with a lifelong passion for light-tackle angling and primitive-weapons hunting, shapes his storytelling: engaging readers while weaving in the science behind the experience.

His career working alongside tribal, federal and state land management agencies has given him firsthand insight into the complexities of natural resource management, enabling him to communicate science-based, balanced conservation perspectives with clarity and credibility.

That same drive to solve problems on the water led Scott to invent the Fish Finder Jig, a versatile multi-species hair jig designed to help anglers land more fish.
