The Aroostook Common here, and it’s the last weekend in May already! Summer events are starting to roll out across Aroostook County, and there’s plenty happening this weekend. As always, this is just a sampling of events, so for full listings and more details, head over to AroostookCommon.com.

We’ll kick things off Thursday night with some music and fun. Head over to the Maple Pig in Presque Isle for Mix Tape Bingo and Rock-A-Oke with Brady & The Gal from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Maple Pig Bar & Grill

Also Thursday night, the Northeastland Hotel will feature live music in the lobby with P & E Acoustics from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Northeastland Hotel

And if board games are more your style, the Caribou Public Library is hosting a community board game night Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Caribou Public Library

Friday night, Mainely Girls and the City of Presque Isle are hosting their monthly Last Friday Open Mic at the Sargent Family Community Center from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Musicians, poets, comedians, and performers of all kinds are welcome. The Francis Malcolm Science Center is hosting another weekend of planetarium shows with Ibex: Search for the Edge of the Solar System. Showtimes are Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Francis Malcolm Science Center

On Saturday, The Sawdust Pit Showdown is taking place in Ashland, where dirtbike racing will be fired up all day long, starting at 7:30 am registration. There will be racing for all ages, food vendors on site, roadside fries, a $2000 pro class payout, and more! Bring the whole family for a day of fun! North Star Motorsports

Saturday morning, the Presque Isle Elks Lodge will host their annual Youth Fishing Derby at Mantle Lake Park beginning at 8:00 a.m. Presque Isle Elks Lodge

The Northern Maine Community Trails is also hosting a full Women’s Day on Saturday focused on wellness, movement, creativity, nature, and community. Pre-registration is required, and you can find the link on our website.

Then later Saturday afternoon, adults can learn mountain biking at Northern Maine Community Trails from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

The Ashland Sovereign Market, Ashland’s local farmers market, also kicks off Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will continue throughout the summer season.

Saturday night if a club night is what you're looking for, DJ Jake Ball will be playing your favorites all night long at the Time Out in Presque Isle, starting at 8 pm. Time Out Sports Bar & Grill DJ JAKE BALL

It’s Memorial Day Weekend here in Aroostook County, which means there’s a lot happening all across the County! As always, this is just a sampling of events, so be sure to visit AroostookCommon.com for full listings and even more going on this weekend.

This weekend, the Madawaska Music Department is presenting Annie Jr. at the Madawaska Middle/High School Cafeteria. Performances will take place Friday night at 6:00 p.m., Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., and again Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are ten dollars for adults and five dollars for children. Friday night, the Caribou Performing Arts Center will welcome EagleMania, one of the top Eagles tribute bands around, for a concert from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 and are available at Sleepers and the Cigarette Shopper in Madawaska. Caribou Performing Arts Center

The Francis Malcolm Science Center is hosting another weekend of planetarium shows with Out There: The Search for Extrasolar Worlds happening Friday night at 6:30 p.m. and again Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. Francis Malcolm Science Center

There’s even more happening at the Science Center on Saturday, including an open house from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and an Open Observatory Night from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m., where visitors may get a chance to see the moon, Jupiter, and more through the observatory telescopes.

Farmers market season is officially starting up around Aroostook County this weekend, so keep an eye out for local markets opening across the region Saturday morning.

The Aroostook Centre Mall in Presque Isle will host a Craft Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Over in Mars Hill, the Mars Hill Recreation Department is hosting a Homecoming Trash to Treasure Sale and Spring Craft Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

And Saturday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., the Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library in Presque Isle will host a Dead River Valley Book Talk with author Amy Safford.

Then on Monday, communities across Aroostook County will gather to honor Memorial Day with parades and ceremonies. The cities of Caribou, Presque Isle, and Houlton will all host Memorial Day parades beginning at 10:00 a.m.

And later in the day at 2:00 p.m., Mapleton Daze will host their annual Mapleton Memorial Day Parade.

Yesterday, local artists gathered for the Aroostook Creative Network Summit that was held at The Northeastland Hotel, hosted by the Maine Arts Commission and Wintergreen Arts Center. Local artists were able to connect and share ideas for continuing to build the presence of art here in the county. It was a great experience and The Aroostook Common was thankful to be a part of it!

All weekend long from Friday through Sunday, bargain hunters are in luck because it’s the Caribou Citywide Yard Sale Weekend. Expect yard sales all over town and plenty of treasure hunting opportunities. City of Caribou, Maine

Another huge weekend long event is happening in Fort Kent this weekend, it's Logger Fest 2026 and it kicks off Friday at 11 AM, with a light parade friday night at 8:30 PM. On Saturday the event schedule is packed all day long and wrap up with fireworks at 9 PM and live music by Guilty Pleasure and then finishes up with a golf tourney on Sunday. Friday night, Glass with Class is hosting a Couples Resin Night, where you can create your own resin art together. All tools and supplies are provided, and the cost is $35 per person. Glass with Class LLC.

Also Friday night, the musical duo “Just Us” featuring Janice Santos & Doug Drew will be performing live at the Rendezvous Restaurant in Caribou from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

And starting at 7:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday night, the Caribou Choral Society will present their spring concert series, Songs from Stage and Screen: Act Two. Friday night’s performance will take place at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church in Presque Isle, and Saturday night’s concert will be at the Caribou Performing Arts Center. Saturday morning, head over to Riverside Park in Presque Isle for the Second Annual Pause for Mental Health 1 Mile and 5K Walk. This free, dog-friendly community event is all about bringing mental health awareness to the forefront. After the walk, there will be live music by Mark Shaw and friends along with community vendors on site.

And just across the street at the Presque Isle Recreation Center, the annual Spring Craft Fair will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce

For those looking for a more creative and relaxing Saturday, Wintergreen Arts Center is hosting a Women’s Art Retreat from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants can explore watercolor, alcohol ink, leatherwork, beads, and more while enjoying a soup and salad lunch and live art demonstrations. Saturday at 11:00 a.m., pay respects to our veterans at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou for a special flag raising ceremony.

Then Saturday afternoon, Troy Celik will perform live at the Fort Kent Cinema from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. for a fundraising concert to help support his trip to a theater vocal camp in New York City this summer — an incredible opportunity that will end with a cabaret performance on Broadway.
