Hi everyone, The Aroostook Common here, and summer vacation has officially arrived for many kids across Aroostook County! School is out, the days are long, and there are plenty of great ways to get out and enjoy the first weekend of summer.

-Dance fans won't want to miss the annual Moondance Studios recital happening Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Arts Center. This year's theme is Millennial Music, featuring songs from the 1990s and 2000s brought to life through creative performances by talented dancers from across the County. -Pride Aroostook is celebrating Pride Month all weekend long with a variety of events across the region. Festivities begin Friday with a Make Your Own Bracelet event in Caribou. Then on Saturday, head over to Riverside Park in Presque Isle for Pride Aroostook's main celebration from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. featuring community, entertainment, activities, and a welcoming atmosphere for all. -If you're interested in the arts, local ceramic artist Dylan Ouellette will be at the Rivertown Community Arts Center in Fort Kent on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. for a special Throwing Big event. Dylan will demonstrate the process of creating a large-scale pottery piece on the wheel. Registration is required, so visit AroostookCommon.com for details on how to reserve your spot. -Saturday morning, gardeners and plant lovers should make plans to stop by the Caribou Public Library's annual plant sale from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You'll find perennials, herbs, vegetable plants, shrubs, houseplants, and more, all at great prices. Caribou Public Library

-Also on Saturday, Crown of Maine Wrestling presents United We Slam at the American Legion, located at 67 Sweden Street in Caribou. The live professional wrestling event runs from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. and promises plenty of action and excitement for wrestling fans of all ages. Crown of Maine Wrestling

-Then on Sunday, musicians are invited to gather at the Grand Isle Community Center for a Bluegrass Jam from noon until 3:00 p.m. All ages and skill levels are welcome to bring an instrument, join in, or simply come listen and enjoy an afternoon of acoustic music and community.

The Aroostook Common here with another weekend in Aroostook County! Summer is getting closer, community events are picking up, and there's plenty happening around the County. Friday morning, the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce is launching their new networking series, Constructive Coffee, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Northeastland Hotel. This is a great opportunity to connect with local business owners, entrepreneurs, and community members while discussing collaboration, fresh ideas, and all the momentum building in downtown Presque Isle heading into the summer season. Also happening Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, the Fort Kent Community School is hosting a dinner theater production of Lend Me a Tenor. Performances begin each night at 6:00 p.m. and promise plenty of laughs as audiences enjoy this classic comedy alongside a meal. Community High School/Valley Rivers Middle School

Friday night is also Presque Isle First Friday Art Night, one of the County's favorite monthly celebrations of creativity and community. Downtown Presque Isle will be filled with gallery shows, live music, and street artists. P.I. First Friday Art Night

You'll find local artists including Sparrow Hawk Tie Dye, Sue’s Painting Creations, Lasting Impressions, Magical Unicorn Creations, Brianna Gerrish Ceramics, Miranda Cole, and more displaying their work along Main Street. Art exhibits will be featured at The Common Gallery, Wintergreen Arts Center, the Reed Art Gallery, and the Northeastland Hotel. Janice Santos will be performing live at Wintergreen Arts Center, while Carol Ayoob and Jon Steinberger will be providing live music at The Common Gallery. For those looking for live music later Friday evening, the Dustpans Duo will be performing at Bastians Tavern in Market Square, Houlton, from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. Bastions Tavern

Saturday is also the Presque Isle Citywide Yard Sale, so keep your eyes open for treasures all around the city as residents set up sales throughout the day. City of Presque Isle

Saturday morning kicks off with a craft fair at the Aroostook Centre Mall. The fair runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and continues Sunday during the same hours. Aroostook Centre Mall

Also on Saturday, celebrate the second anniversary of the Stockholm Sovereign Market from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Support local farmers, makers, artists, and vendors while enjoying one of the County's unique community markets. Stockholm Sovereign Market

If you've ever wanted to try mountain biking, the Northern Maine Community Trails at 450 Fort Fairfield Road will host an Adult Learn to Mountain Bike class from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

And if you're heading south for the evening, local alternative rock band Marionette will be performing live at Knife Edge Brewing in Millinocket from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Marionette - Party Band

The Aroostook Common here, and it’s the last weekend in May already! Summer events are starting to roll out across Aroostook County, and there’s plenty happening this weekend. As always, this is just a sampling of events, so for full listings and more details, head over to AroostookCommon.com.

We’ll kick things off Thursday night with some music and fun. Head over to the Maple Pig in Presque Isle for Mix Tape Bingo and Rock-A-Oke with Brady & The Gal from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Maple Pig Bar & Grill

Also Thursday night, the Northeastland Hotel will feature live music in the lobby with P & E Acoustics from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Northeastland Hotel

And if board games are more your style, the Caribou Public Library is hosting a community board game night Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Caribou Public Library

Friday night, Mainely Girls and the City of Presque Isle are hosting their monthly Last Friday Open Mic at the Sargent Family Community Center from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Musicians, poets, comedians, and performers of all kinds are welcome. On Saturday, The Sawdust Pit Showdown is taking place in Ashland, where dirtbike racing will be fired up all day long, starting at 7:30 am registration. There will be racing for all ages, food vendors on site, roadside fries, a $2000 pro class payout, and more! Bring the whole family for a day of fun! North Star Motorsports

Saturday morning, the Presque Isle Elks Lodge will host their annual Youth Fishing Derby at Mantle Lake Park beginning at 8:00 a.m. Presque Isle Elks Lodge

The Northern Maine Community Trails is also hosting a full Women’s Day on Saturday focused on wellness, movement, creativity, nature, and community. Pre-registration is required, and you can find the link on our website.

Then later Saturday afternoon, adults can learn mountain biking at Northern Maine Community Trails from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

The Ashland Sovereign Market, Ashland’s local farmers market, also kicks off Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will continue throughout the summer season.

Saturday night if a club night is what you're looking for, DJ Jake Ball will be playing your favorites all night long at the Time Out in Presque Isle, starting at 8 pm. Time Out Sports Bar & Grill DJ JAKE BALL
