We’re excited to announce that the Floyd County Board of Education has officially voted to purchase basic school supplies for every student attending Floyd County Schools for the upcoming school year!

✅ Each child will receive school supplies—like pencils, notebooks, and more—based on their grade level.

✅ Students in grades 7–12 will also receive a backpack and a laptop, which will be distributed during the first week of school or at your school’s Open House. This year, Floyd County Schools will allow Students in grades 7-12 to purchase their own backpacks. Please see other posts to fill out a form to let us know which one you choose.

✅ Students in K–6 will purchase their backpacks. If you are experiencing difficulties purchasing a backpack, please contact your school’s Family Resource Center or Bobby Akers ([email protected]).

One thing we will not be purchasing this year is earbuds/headphones. We encourage all families to purchase these for your students to use. Any headphones provided by families must be compatible with school-issued devices and use one of the following connection types:

• 3.5mm headphone jack (see attached example)
• Bluetooth connection
• USB connection

Multiple price points and styles are available. You can purchase these at Walmart, Amazon, Temu, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Target, and other retailers.

Superintendent Tonya Horne-Williams shared,
