That's what my guest David Baer shared in our latest podcast conversation.

Years ago, he dined at Mario Batali's NYC restaurant Otto. Good food, nice atmosphere, solid service.

But what happened next was brilliant.

Days later, David received a handwritten note in the mail from his server. She recalled specific details about his meal and experience.

The restaurant had quietly purchased his mailing address from AmEx just to send this unexpected touch.

The card itself probably cost less than $2.

But that small investment transformed David from a one-time guest into both a loyal patron and a vocal advocate. He's shared this story countless times over the past decade.

That's the true power of strategic client retention.

While most businesses pour money into expensive lead generation, the smartest ones focus on keeping and growing their best customers through simple, systematic touchpoints.

In our latest From the Trenches episode, David reveals exactly how to build these retention systems into your business.

He shares the frameworks he's used to help companies slash customer churn and create raving fans.

07/08/2025

I was finally getting some decent sleep Sunday morning after all my neighbors decided to set off their endless supply of fireworks late into Saturday night.

When suddenly at 4:50 a.m., the tornado sirens rattled me awake.

I immediately grabbed my phone to check for weather alerts, but there were none.

Finally, the sheriff's department sent out a message saying it was "a system error."

𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲.

A dispatcher accidentally hit the wrong button while paging out a medic unit.

Simple human error.

But instead of just saying, "Hey, our bad - wrong button. Sorry for waking you up" ...

They tried to cover it up with that "system error" story.

And it got me thinking about something we see ALL THE TIME in email marketing ...

Those infamous "oops" emails.

You know what I'm talking about ...

--> "OOPS! The link was broken!"

--> "OOPS! We sent the wrong price!"

--> "OOPS! The deadline wasn't really the deadline!"

Most of these "oops" emails aren't really oops at all.

They're planned.

And while they might work for quick sales, they slowly chip away at something way more valuable ...

Trust.

Because your audience isn't dumb, they know what's going on.

And every time you try to fool them, you're essentially telling them you think they're not smart enough to see through it.

Real mistakes do happen. Sometimes links don't work. Sometimes deadlines do need extending.

When that happens, just be straight up about it ...

"Hey, we had more demand than expected, so we're extending this."

"My bad, I messed up the link. Here's the right one."

As T. Harv Eker says, "How you do anything is how you do everything."

And if you're willing to be dishonest about small things, what else might you be dishonest about?

Trust is like sleep after those 4:50 AM sirens...

Once it's gone, it's really hard to get back.

P.S. My "Before You Hit Send" checklist can help you avoid those accidental mistakes. You can get it free when you grab your copy of my book 𝘏𝘪𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘣𝘰𝘹 - https://HitTheInboxBook.com

That startling insight comes from agency owner Emylee Williams, who discovered this revenue-draining pattern after 14 years in the online business world.

In this week's From the Trenches episode, Emylee reveals how she rebuilt her own business with 90% less overhead - replacing her full salary within just 7 months using her "Chase the Breadcrumbs" methodology.

• The 3-step process to uncover hidden revenue
• Why legacy clients hold untapped $100k potential
• How to structure price increases with confidence
• When to create premium high-value offers
• Scripts for having tough money conversations

My friend CJ lives and breathes soccer.

So when he told me about the FIFA Club World Cup disaster last Tuesday, I knew something major had happened.

Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando stands proud as a temple to soccer. Built for 25,500 passionate fans, it's where crowd roars typically shake the foundations

But on this day, you could hear individual conversations echo across the empty seats.

Only 3,412 fans showed up.

Now some tournament games packed stadiums to capacity. The Rose Bowl and Hard Rock Stadium buzzed with electric energy and passionate fans.

𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗙𝗜𝗙𝗔 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺...

They exposed a pattern I've seen hundreds of times in coaching businesses.

From virtual workshops to live events, these invisible conversion killers operate 24/7, leaving seats empty while the coaches remain unaware.

Even coaches with 5,000+ subscriber lists - names you'd recognize and respect - struggle with this exact problem.

When I investigate their email systems, I consistently find 6 to 20 conversion killers silently destroying their attendance rates.

𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 ... 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄?

> Every empty seat in your webinar represents someone who needed your help but never got the chance.

> Every no-show for your workshop means someone missing their breakthrough moment.

> Every unfilled spot in your program equals a transformation that never happened.

I've developed a precision system for hunting down these digital assassins and eliminating them from your email systems.

𝗢𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟴 & 𝟵, 𝗜'𝗺 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁.

If you're tired of wondering why your rooms aren't always full...

If you're ready to turn your email list into a reliable room-filling machine...

At age 12, Craig Schulze made $25 per hour making gift boxes – in the early 90s when most people earned $6 per hour.

That entrepreneurial drive launched him into a 25-year journey building multiple seven-figure businesses across the globe.

But it wasn't all smooth sailing.

The Global Financial Crisis nearly destroyed everything he'd built.

Banks stopped lending.

Equipment costs skyrocketed overnight.

Cash flow dried up.

Those hard lessons taught him secrets for surviving adversity – which proved vital during COVID lockdowns when his core business froze completely.

Through decades of global business success, gut-wrenching setbacks, and impressive comebacks, Craig discovered that success leaves clues.

As a multi-award winning fitness professional turned international business leader, he's refined a powerful philosophy about business resilience.

On this week's From The Trenches episode, Craig shares his most valuable insights:

• The unexpected way he found his game-changing mentor using "financial alchemy"

So there's this wild story that came out of Italy last week.

A couple at the Palazzo Maffei museum in Verona just destroyed a $50,000 crystal chair. Like, completely wrecked it.

The security footage tells the whole embarrassing story.

While his companion was posing near the artwork - a delicate Swarovski crystal-covered chair inspired by Van Gogh's paintings - this dude decided to actually sit on it.

A piece covered in HUNDREDS of crystals.

The chair immediately collapsed under his weight. He stumbled, tried to catch himself, and then they both rushed out of the room like teenagers who just broke mom's favorite vase.

The museum spent days trying to restore this masterpiece. And somehow, they pulled it off.

This got me thinking about your rooms.

Your webinars. Your masterclasses. Your workshops. Your courses.

The spaces you create to serve your people and deliver transformation.

You're filling seats. But we both know there's room for more magic.

I've been working on something special. A way to help coaches and course creators like you optimize their room-filling strategy.

To turn good attendance into packed houses.

I can't share all the details just yet.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘀, 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗗𝗠 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 "𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗦" 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜'𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸.

Because unlike that museum piece, your seats SHOULD be filled.

Just with the right people.

*******

The museum said restoring that chair was a nightmare. But they did it. Just like we're about to do with your attendance - but this will be much easier. 😉

Running a successful business used to be simpler.

Local shops thrived on foot traffic. Online businesses carved out their digital niches. But the lines have blurred.

Today's customers don't distinguish between local and online.

They pull out their phones and search Google for solutions - whether they're looking for a neighborhood coffee shop or a digital marketing consultant.

If you're not showing up in those searches, you're invisible.

Your competitors - both local and online - are scooping up those customers while you hope someone stumbles across your business.

And Google is actually begging to send you more business. For free. Whether you have a storefront or a laptop lifestyle.

In our latest podcast episode, marketing strategist Rita Suzanne reveals Google Business Profile strategies that work for both local and online businesses.

You'll discover:
• Hidden profile features that boost visibility (regardless of business model)
• Smart review collection tactics that build trust
• Why even online businesses need a local presence
• Simple techniques to outrank bigger competitors
• The profile maintenance schedule that keeps you relevant

Rita breaks down exactly what to do, step-by-step, to maximize your digital visibility. No tech degree required.

This isn't about complicated algorithms or expensive ads. It's about showing up where your customers are already looking - whether they're down the street or across the country.

Ready to stop being the internet's best-kept secret? Listen to the episode now.

No fluff. No theory. Just proven marketing tactics you can implement today.

John Landry thought he was making a smart decision - taking the express lane to beat traffic on his family camping trip ...
06/10/2025

John Landry thought he was making a smart decision - taking the express lane to beat traffic on his family camping trip to Virginia.

He even saw the sign that said "Higher Toll for Larger Vehicles."

No big deal, right? Maybe an extra 20 or 30 bucks for his RV.

That's what any normal person would think.

Then the bill hit.

$569.50.

For one trip.

His wife Julia said it perfectly: "𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦."

When John tried to fight it, the toll company basically laughed at him.

It turns out their "rules" allow them to charge RVs up to seven times the regular rate. But that tiny detail wasn't posted anywhere obvious.

This reminds me of something I see happening with GoHighLevel users every single day.

Many of them are 𝘂𝗻𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹.

The Federal Trade Commission requires every marketing email to include your physical mailing address.

Sounds trivial, doesn't it?

But missing this one element could cost you $53,088 per email.

And just like that toll company didn't care that John "didn't know" about their crazy RV rates...

The FTC won't care that you didn't know about this requirement, or that you inadvertently forgot to include it.

I see this mistake in almost every email sent from a GoHighLevel account - because unlike most other email marketing platforms, GoHighLevel doesn't automatically insert your business information into your emails.

Most people assume their tech team or VA handled it.

Just like John assumed that "Higher Toll" sign couldn't possibly mean a $570 charge.

But while John only got charged for one trip, the FTC can look back at every email you've ever sent and penalize you for each one!

Your total fine could bankrupt your business overnight.

The solution is simple though.

Check your GoHighLevel email templates right now.

Look for your physical mailing address in the footer.

If it's not there, add it immediately.

And use it in every email moving forward.

Because some conversion killers don't just hurt sales...

They can destroy everything you've worked so hard to build.

Most business owners cringe when they hear his name.

But while many dismiss Donald Trump as "just politics," he engineered something remarkable...

Turning a $66 million investment into over $5.9 billion in free media exposure.

Love him or hate him, that's an 89X return that deserves our attention as entrepreneurs.

Former Microsoft exec and Dan Kennedy's head copywriter Jack Turk just revealed the psychology behind 47 of Trump's most powerful marketing techniques in his brand new book.

In this eye-opening episode of From the Trenches, Jack breaks down:
• The "thick face, black heart" mindset used by surgeons that lets you execute ruthlessly (while staying ethical)
• Why authenticity beats polished messaging in today's skeptical world
• Simple ways to craft memorable hooks that grab attention instantly
• Real examples of major brands successfully using these strategies

You don't have to agree with the messenger to profit from the message.

And you certainly can't afford to leave these proven weapons in your competition's hands.

Listen now to discover how to ethically apply these battle-tested tactics in your business.

"Baby, I love you so much. I want to dedicate an entire day to showing you just how special you are to me," he whispered with their hands clasped together.

"We'll start our morning at that fancy downtown café. You know the one - where the coffee aroma hits you before you even open the door. Where those eggs benedict make your eyes roll back in pure bliss.

"From there, we're off on your dream shopping spree. That designer outfit you've been drooling over every time we walk past the store? It's all yours baby.

"Then straight to the spa for a couples massage. Every muscle turning to butter. Getting those tired feet pampered like royalty.

"For dinner, I pulled strings at that exclusive steakhouse downtown. The one where the dry-aged ribeye dissolves on your tongue like cotton candy.

"Then I've got us front row tickets to none other than your favorite band. Bass thumping through your chest. Dancing like nobody's watching."

"And when we get home... well... let's just say the bed's getting a workout."

"But the other 29 days of the month? You're sleeping alone in a cold bed.

"No good morning kisses. No help folding that mountain of laundry. No one to split the dishes with. No random hugs from behind while you're cooking. No Netflix cuddles. No texts during your lunch break.

"Nothing but empty rooms and silence until our magical day rolls around again next month."

Can you hear the slap across the cheek followed by the door slamming?

This isn't just some random story I cooked up.

Last week, I heard something that hit exactly like this tale of twisted love.

I consulted with the new marketing director at a company who's subscribers haven't been engaging quite as well recently with their emails.

Now this guy's a smart dude - definitely not a novice in marketing.

But he dropped a bomb that made my jaw hit the floor.

"𝘔𝘰𝘮, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺."

At just six years old, Nathan Baws made this declaration to his single mother. Living on a tight budget meant potatoes were their daily staple.

That's when young Nathan decided to start his first business - determined to help put something more than spuds on their dinner table.

Fast forward to today - Nathan has built 17 successful businesses using an unconventional approach to marketing that most business owners completely overlook.

While others dump thousands into polished ads that get ignored, Nathan generates massive exposure without spending a dime. By doing the opposite of what everyone else does.

Take the time he needed to sell a flat in London during the financial crisis.

Instead of conventional real estate marketing, Nathan and his sister wore ugly handwritten signs and walked across Tower Bridge.

The "unprofessional" stunt stopped traffic. Red double-decker buses pulled over. Tourist cameras clicked away.

Within 48 hours, it went viral globally. His phone rang non-stop with interested buyers. Total cost? Zero.

In this week's episode, Nathan breaks down his creative approach to standing out in oversaturated markets. You'll discover:

• The psychology behind viral marketing stunts
• How to craft campaigns that demand attention
• Ways to leverage "ugly" marketing that gets noticed
• Simple mindset shifts for unlocking breakthrough ideas
• Joint venture strategies for tapping new audiences

Don't miss Nathan's proven framework for generating massive exposure on a shoestring budget.
