🌿 Wellness Wednesday

Sit Well. Breathe Well. Feel Better.

Many of us spend hours each day sitting—at work, in the car, at the dinner table, or scrolling through our phones.

But it’s not sitting itself that’s usually the problem.

It’s how we sit.

When we slump, the pelvis rolls backward, the spine rounds, and the chest collapses. Over time, this can contribute to neck tension, shoulder discomfort, and make deep breathing feel more difficult.

A few simple adjustments can make a noticeable difference.

✨ Sit on your sit bones instead of your tailbone.

✨ Lengthen your spine naturally—avoid forcing a perfectly straight posture.

✨ Relax your shoulders away from your ears.

✨ Let your rib cage rest comfortably over your pelvis.

✨ Breathe slowly and notice how your body responds.

Good posture isn’t about looking perfect.

It’s about creating a position where your body can move and breathe with less effort.

Whether you’re working at a desk, reading a book, or practicing yoga, small changes can add up over time.

Move with intention.
Breathe with awareness.
Honor the body you’re in today. 🤍

🌿 Wednesday Reflection

“The way you sit can influence the way you breathe, and the way you breathe can influence the way you feel.”

Take a moment to notice:

✨ Where are you sitting as you read this?

✨ Is there one small adjustment that helps you feel more comfortable or breathe a little easier?

🧘 Technique Tuesday

Easy Pose

Easy Pose may look simple, but sitting comfortably with awareness can take practice.

The goal is not to force the knees toward the floor or hold yourself rigidly upright. The goal is to create a seated position where the pelvis, spine, shoulders, and breath feel supported.

Benefits

✨ Encourages upright posture
✨ Supports calm, steady breathing
✨ Helps improve awareness of the pelvis and spine
✨ Creates a comfortable foundation for meditation and breathwork
✨ Gently opens the hips

Alignment Tips

🌿 Sit on a folded blanket, cushion, or yoga block if your hips feel tight.

🌿 Cross your legs comfortably rather than forcing a specific position.

🌿 Allow your knees to relax outward.

🌿 Ground evenly through both sit bones.

🌿 Lengthen through the spine without stiffening.

🌿 Soften your shoulders away from your ears.

🌿 Rest your hands wherever they feel natural.

Practice Tip

Your knees do not need to touch the floor.

When the hips are elevated above the knees, the pelvis often feels more stable and the spine can lengthen with less effort.

A chair is also a wonderful option. Sit toward the front of the seat with both feet grounded and your spine comfortably tall.

Easy Pose should feel steady, supported, and sustainable.

Not forced.

Not painful.

Not perfect.

Move with intention.
Breathe with awareness.
Honor the body you’re in today. 🤍

🌿 Mindful Monday

Every new week offers a fresh opportunity to begin again.

Yesterday, you took a moment to pause, reflect, and choose an intention for the week ahead.

Today, simply remember it.

Your intention doesn’t have to be something you accomplish.

It can be something you practice.

Perhaps this week, your intention is to slow down…

To breathe before reacting…

To be a little kinder to yourself…

Or simply to create a few quiet moments in your day.

Small moments of mindfulness have a way of growing into lasting habits.

This week, we’ll continue our yoga journey by exploring Easy Pose (Sukhasana)—a simple seated posture that reminds us that strength isn’t always found in movement.

Sometimes it’s found in stillness.

Carry your intention with you today.

One breath.

One choice.

One moment at a time.

Move with intention.
Breathe with awareness.
Honor the body you’re in today. 🤍

🌿 Monday Reflection

Creating Space

“Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time.” — Hermann Hesse

Take a moment to reflect:

🌅 Sunday Reset

Another week has come and gone.

Maybe you practiced every day.

Maybe you only paused for a single mindful breath.

Maybe life became busy, and your plans looked different than you expected.

Wherever this week took you…

Take a moment to simply notice.

Notice what felt good.

Notice what challenged you.

Notice what helped you feel more connected to your body.

There is nothing to judge.

Only something to learn.

As this week comes to a close, choose one simple intention to carry into the week ahead.

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Perhaps your intention is…

🌿 I will slow down.

🌿 I will move with kindness.

🌿 I will breathe before I react.

🌿 I will notice more.

🌿 I will trust the process.

Write it down.

Carry it with you.

Then let it gently guide your choices throughout the coming week.

Remember…

Progress isn’t measured by perfection.

It’s measured by returning to what matters.

Move with intention.
Breathe with awareness.
Honor the body you’re in today. 🤍

🌼 Simple Practice Saturday

Stand Tall for One Minute

Sometimes the simplest practices are the most powerful.

This week, we’ve explored Mountain Pose from the ground up—learning about posture, the foot tripod, soft knees, and finding balance.

Today, I invite you to pause for just one minute.

Stand comfortably with your feet grounded.

👣 Feel your foot tripod.

🦵 Keep your knees soft.

🌿 Lengthen through your spine.

🤍 Relax your shoulders.

🌬️ Take a few slow, steady breaths.

Notice how your body feels.

Notice how your breath feels.

Notice how simply standing with awareness can change the way you feel.

You don’t need a long workout to reconnect with your body.

Sometimes sixty seconds is enough.

Today’s practice isn’t about doing more.

It’s about noticing more.

Move with intention.
Breathe with awareness.
Honor the body you’re in today. 🤍

🌿 Weekend Reflection

“Awareness grows through practice, not perfection.”

Take a moment to reflect:

✨ What did you notice when you slowed down?

✨ Which lesson from this week do you want to carry into next week?

I came across this interesting video about the laundry detergent industry, and thought I’d share it. It reminded me of the homemade detergent recipe I’ve been using for years, so I wanted to share that too! Link to video at bottom of post⬇️

🫧 Wellness Goes Beyond What We Eat

When we think about living healthier, we often focus on the food we put into our bodies.

But have you ever thought about what you put on your body?

Our clothes, towels, and bedding spend hours in contact with our skin every day. That’s one reason I enjoy making my own simple powdered laundry detergent. It uses just a few basic ingredients, is inexpensive to make, and has worked well for my family for years.

✨ Homemade Powdered Laundry Detergent Recipe

🧺 Ingredients:
• 1 large box baking soda
• 1 box washing soda
• 1 box borax
• 2 bars Fels-Naptha soap

Directions:

1. Grate both bars of Fels-Naptha soap.
2. Combine the baking soda, washing soda, and borax in a large container.
3. Add the grated soap and mix thoroughly.
4. Store in an airtight container.
5. Use about 1 heaping tablespoon per load of laundry.

P.S. I know it’s a great recipe because, about a year ago my son messaged me and said “hey mom, what’s that laundry soap recipe you’ve been using?” So my kids have grown up and moved on and in their own homes, they continue using the recipe for their laundry.

Wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about making small, intentional choices that fit your lifestyle. For me, this has been one simple swap that I’ve enjoyed for years.

💬 Do you make any of your own household products? I’d love to hear what simple changes you’ve made!

🌿 Friday Findings

This Week’s Research + This Week’s Practice

Throughout this week, we’ve been exploring Mountain Pose (Tadasana)—one of yoga’s simplest postures and one of its greatest teachers.

At first glance, it looks like you’re “just standing.”

But this week’s research reminds us that there’s much more happening beneath the surface.

Researchers continue exploring interoception—our ability to notice what’s happening inside our bodies. Study after study suggests that developing greater body awareness may support healthier movement, improve our relationship with discomfort, and help regulate our nervous system.

Yoga has been inviting us into this practice for thousands of years.

Not by asking us to perform.

By asking us to notice.

That is why Mountain Pose is so powerful.

When you notice how your feet meet the ground…

When you soften your knees instead of locking them…

When you allow your shoulders to relax as your spine lengthens…

You’re doing much more than improving your posture.

You’re practicing awareness.

And awareness is a skill that extends far beyond your yoga mat.

🧘 This Week’s Practice

As you look at this week’s Mountain Pose refinements, don’t ask:

“Am I doing it perfectly?”

Instead, ask:

✨ What changes when I balance my weight through my feet?

✨ What changes when I soften my knees?

✨ What changes when I release unnecessary tension from my shoulders?

Sometimes the smallest adjustments create the biggest changes—not because they’re magical, but because they help us listen more closely to what our bodies have been telling us all along.

🌿 Weekend Awareness Invitation

This weekend, notice how you stand throughout your day.

Waiting in line.

Brushing your teeth.

Preparing a meal.

Talking with a friend.

Pause for one slow breath.

Feel your feet grounded beneath you.

Soften your knees.

Relax your shoulders.

Then simply notice.

Not because you’re trying to stand “correctly.”

Because you’re practicing being present.

Sometimes awareness is the first step toward healing.

Sometimes it’s the healing itself.

Research inspires curiosity.

Practice creates understanding.

Awareness changes everything. 🤍

✨ Flexibility Friday

Mountain Pose: It’s the Little Things That Matter

(Tadasana)—the foundation of nearly every standing yoga posture.

As you practice Mountain Pose today, notice these three simple cues:

👣 Are you balanced through your foot tripod?

Press evenly through your heel, the ball beneath your big toe, and the ball beneath your little toe.

🦵 Are your knees soft?

Avoid locking your knees. A gentle softness allows your muscles—not your joints—to provide support.

🌬️ Can you lengthen while staying relaxed?

Imagine the crown of your head reaching toward the sky while your shoulders soften away from your ears.

Don’t worry about looking perfect.

Instead, notice how the pose feels.

When your foundation is balanced, your body often feels lighter, steadier, and more at ease.

Yoga isn’t about forcing your body into a shape.

It’s about learning to listen to it.

🌿 Friday Reflection

“The body benefits from movement, and the mind benefits from awareness.”

Take a moment to reflect:

✨ What small adjustment made the biggest difference for you this week?

✨ Did anything surprise you as you practiced Mountain Pose?

Move with awareness.
Breathe with intention.
Honor the body you’re in today.

🌿 Strength & Stability Thursday

Strong Feet, Strong Foundation

Every step you take begins with your feet.

Your feet contain 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments working together to provide balance, stability, and movement. Yet they’re often one of the most overlooked parts of the body.

In Mountain Pose, your feet become your foundation. Learning to spread your toes, distribute your weight evenly, and feel grounded doesn’t just support your yoga practice—it can support the way you stand, walk, and move throughout your day.

This week, try this simple exercise:

👣 Stand barefoot for one minute.

Notice how your feet connect with the floor.

Can you gently spread your toes?

Can you feel your weight balanced between your heels, the base of your big toes, and the base of your little toes?

Sometimes the smallest adjustments create the strongest foundation.

Move with intention.
Breathe with awareness.
Honor the body you’re in today. 🤍

“A strong foundation supports everything built upon it.”

🌿 Wellness Wednesday

Posture: The Foundation of Healthy Movement

Posture isn’t about standing perfectly straight.

It’s about creating a position that allows your body to move, breathe, and function comfortably.

Throughout the day, our bodies naturally adapt to how we sit, stand, work, and move. Bringing a little awareness to our posture can help reduce unnecessary tension and make everyday activities feel easier.

This week, take a few moments to check in with your body.

✨ Are your shoulders creeping toward your ears?

✨ Are you holding tension in your jaw?

✨ Are both feet grounded when you’re standing?

✨ Can you take one slow, deep breath?

Small moments of awareness, repeated throughout the day, can make a meaningful difference over time.

You don’t have to strive for “perfect posture.”

Simply practice returning to a position that feels balanced, supported, and relaxed.

Move with intention.
Breathe with awareness.
Honor the body you’re in today. 🤍

🌿 Wellness Reflection

“Awareness is the first step toward positive change.”

Take a moment to notice:

✨ Where do you tend to carry tension during the day?

✨ What is one small adjustment you can make today to help your body feel more supported?
