between packaging, wrapping paper, food waste, and unwanted gifts, waste in the US increases 25% during the holiday season 📈🎁🎄

that’s 25 million extra tons of garbage!

on Kauai, anything that enters the trashcan ends up in Kekaha, at our island’s ONLY (and rapidly filling!) landfill 🚮

to avoid overconsumption & needless waste this holiday season, try gifting an EXPERIENCE 🌟 like…
🌊an adventure down the napali w
🧖🏽‍♀️ relaxing massage at the hanalei day spa
🎶 concert tickets to an upcoming show, like Taimane & Her Band playing at this January 2nd!

if you are buying a gift, shop secondhand or from a small, local business on Kauai and make sure it’s a gift that will *actually* be used 🛍️

The celebration of life for our much loved Bradda Loui is this Sunday at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center.

The Cabebe family has invited one and all to celebrate with them.

Bradda Loui was such a meaningful presence on the KKCR airwaves. He leaves a legacy of cheer and a reminder to start your week with gratitude. Mahalo for all your years at KKCR.

Did you know - Hawaii has the 2nd highest drowning rate in the US? 😨💦

Drowning. Is. Preventable. Let’s start the conversation and prevent drownings in our community, our island, our state, and our nation. 🏊🏽‍♀️🏄‍♂️🎖️

Join us tomorrow morning on KKCR for Deep Dive. Our host, Margaret has been talking with safety experts around the world about what works in their communities to prevent drownings. 🎧📡📻

If you know sound of a sputtering engine, you may also know the temptation of pushing your car into the bushes and forgetting its there — but don’t!

Abandoned vehicles create numerous health and safety risks for our island community, including fire hazards and toxic run-off. Instead, dispose of derelict vehicles free of charge with the County of Kauai.
