Mahalo to Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz for stopping by the KKCR jungle radio studio today! He got the two dollar tour and to hang with Program Director Rodwin Pabello and Tech Officer Lex White.📻⚖️

In addition to reaching out to our long time listeners for support, we are also tireless towards government advocacy. I highly recommend emailing our representatives on specific topics. Senator Schatz’ staff has been helpful and responsive every time. (It’s been a lot of emails.) 📨📬

Ever with his finger on the pulse, KKCR’s Program Director, Rodwin, whipped up this graphic to commemorate the tsunami coverage on-air marathon being held by Jimmy T and RadioAnni. Six and a half hours on air and waiting for the all clear, grateful for County officials that act with an abundance of caution keeping us all safe.

July 25 is World Drowning Prevention Day. Drowning is Preventable. Check out the link in our bio for more info from the Kaua’i Lifeguard Association.

In classic community radio form, KKCR, in conjunction with the Kaua’i Lifeguard Association, has started a show called Deep Dive into Water Safety, to address this urgent need in our community and state. Hawaii has the second highest drowning rate in the nation.

Listen to Deep Dive on the archives at KKCR.org and on the third Friday of each month 10-11a.

To support crucial work like this, head to KKCR.org.

First show Wednesday, May 13, 8am!

“✨Meet Kimo Hussey! The Ukulele lover behind Ho’omalie: Beyond C, F & G7.

✨Our goal is to simply to soothe, to calm and for you to have a pleasant experience through music and ukulele.

✨Beyond C, F & G7 refers to the fact that we so often learn first about C, F & G7 on the ukulele but fail to go beyond that. The reason why we should go beyond C, F & G7 is that there are so many rewards for us to accrue.

✨We are doing this in conjunction with KKCR and Ho’ike TV to help us spread the word of creating calm.”
