The vegetation fire burning in Franklin County has been officially named the Juniper Dunes Fire and has grown significantly overnight. The size of the fire is now estimated at 600 acres. Air support is currently on the scene to assist ground crews with containment efforts.

First responders are currently on the scene of an active fire near the intersection of S 12th Ave and W Washington St in Pasco. The incident was originally toned out as a residential structure fire, but as Pasco Police Department officers arrived, they quickly confirmed it was an RV fully involved in flames.

According to emergency scanner traffic, the fully engulfed RV is located directly under a power line, presenting an additional hazard for the incoming fire crews. It is currently unknown if there are any occupants inside the vehicle. The Pasco Fire Department has a large response en route to tackle the blaze and secure the immediate vicinity.

Emergency responders and Kennewick Police were dispatched to a reported injury collision late Saturday night at the intersection of US Highway 395 and West 19th Avenue. Units BC181, E1814, and M1825 arrived on the scene to find a Dodge Charger that had been involved in a rollover crash and abandoned by its driver.

According to scanner traffic, the suspect fled the area on foot immediately following the collision and was seen throwing beer bottles as they ran away. Officers investigating the abandoned Dodge Charger noted that the vehicle did not have a license plate attached. To identify the owner, police relayed the Vehicle Identification Number to dispatchers, requesting a records check across both Washington and Oregon databases. The search for the driver is ongoing as authorities secure the scene and continue their investigation into the crash.

The Great Pasco Super Whip Mystery

Piloting an RV across the country on a (hed)p.e. tour definitely brings its share of wild experiences, but there is a unique brand of late-night entertainment that you can only get from tuning back into the hometown Pasco Police Department scanner. This recent dispatch is exactly the kind of unscripted comedy that makes scanner chasing so rewarding.
The incident kicked off at the East Side Super Station when a suspect decided to make a run for it on foot with a five-finger discount on some "Super Whips." While the suspect's description was still pending, the real investigation immediately shifted to the most pressing question on the radio: What exactly is a Super Whip?
The ensuing collaboration of investigative minds was nothing short of spectacular. One officer proposed it might be related to "whippets," questioning if it was the gas people use to get high. Another officer confidently chimed in with a much more high-stakes theory, stating that a "whip" is street slang for a supercar. In a beautiful, brief leap of radio logic, the working theory momentarily became that someone had somehow shoplifted a Lamborghini and fled on foot from a local gas station.
Thankfully, the ultimate detective—Google—was called in to crack the case. A helpful voice broke through the airwaves to clarify that while a whip is indeed a car, a "Super Whip" is actually a brand of large-capacity nitrous oxide cream chargers intended for culinary applications. The great debate was finally put to rest when the original officer bluntly confirmed that yes, despite the culinary label, people are absolutely just stealing the baking supplies to get high. It is definitely good to be back on the local frequencies.

Kennewick Police responded to a disturbance involving a weapon on Saturday evening in the area of 7982 West Quinault Avenue. Initial reports to dispatch indicated that a male suspect, wearing a red shirt, was aggressively chasing the reporting party with a metal object, initially described by witnesses as a pickaxe.

The situation escalated as the suspect continued to pursue the victim's friend near the 1100 block of Columbia Center Boulevard. Scanner traffic revealed the suspect began throwing items at the reporting party's silver Honda minivan before fleeing the scene. Officers received an updated description of the suspect, noting he was wearing a black hat, a red shirt, and grey sneakers, and was seen walking away with a shopping cart toward a nearby commercial area.

Police quickly converged on the area and located the suspect behind the Toys "R" Us building off Quinault Avenue. Officers successfully made contact and took the individual into custody without further incident. The suspect has been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The United States Marine Corps has released further details regarding the military aircraft that crashed near Rimrock Lake earlier today. According to officials from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the jet involved was an F/A-18 Hornet assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The pilot, who successfully ejected prior to the crash and is recovering from minor injuries at a local hospital, was conducting a routine training mission at the time of the incident. Military officials have stated that a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway. Due to the strict protocols surrounding aviation mishaps, authorities have indicated that no further information will be released until the inquiry is complete, a process that is expected to take up to three months. Benton County Emergency Services have dispatched several engines and command personnel to the area to address the vegetation fire. Multiple units are currently en route, with command staff already on the scene to evaluate the fire's spread and direct containment efforts. 8:26 PM PDT Update: Incident commanders have established "390 Command" at the scene. The natural cover fire has actively involved a vehicle, though all occupants are confirmed to be safely out. Crews are launching a direct attack to protect a second threatened vehicle and contain the surrounding brush fire, with Tender 1311 arriving to assist with water supply. Its estimated at a half acre at this time mostly contained.
