According to the Washington State Patrol, a blue 2003 Dodge Durango was traveling westbound on State Route 240 near milepost 42 when it entered the median and rolled over.
The driver, identified as 57-year-old Garnet S. Willis of Pasco, was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered injuries in the wreck. Charges against Willis are currently pending. A passenger in the vehicle, 25-year-old Justice N. Davis of Richland, was wearing a seatbelt and was also injured.
Troopers suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. The vehicle was declared a total loss, and the exact cause remains under investigation.

A 19-year-old Grandview man was injured early Monday morning following a single-vehicle collision northeast of Sunnyside.
According to the Washington State Patrol, 19-year-old Jonathan Mendoza-Garcia was traveling eastbound on Vanbelle Road in a white 2004 Nissan Sentra. As he approached State Route 241, he failed to yield at the stop sign and drove off the roadway.

Mendoza-Garcia was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. He sustained injuries and was transported to Astria Sunnyside Hospital for treatment.

State Patrol confirmed that drugs or alcohol were not involved in the incident, and a citation was issued. The vehicle sustained reportable damage and was towed from the scene by Sunnyside Towing.

Disaster strikes fast, but community moves faster. Having been born and raised in Elk, Washington, with a family built in Spokane, Chey Marie and her husband Marc know firsthand the overwhelming trauma of losing everything overnight in the Oregon Road Fire. They remember the harsh reality of putting one foot in front of the other with nowhere to turn, walking into Costco with their kids’ sandals broken and wet from the rain, having to buy shoes and sweaters right off the shelves just to make it through the day.

Now, with fires impacting the region once again, Chey and Marc are using their experienced perspective to coordinate immediate relief for families facing that exact turmoil. They are organizing a collection drive utilizing their local school in the Tri-Cities area as a central drop-off point, conveniently accessible right off the highway. Because they are working directly with the Spokane organizations that previously helped them, they are focusing on what victims urgently need right now over the coming days and weeks.
The primary focus of this relief effort is gathering gift cards to provide immediate flexibility, fuel, food, and properly fitting clothing. Suggested gift cards include Yoke’s, Walmart, Safeway, Costco, Fred Meyer, Maverik for fuel, Visa, and Amazon, which can ship supplies directly to wherever displaced victims are staying. While donated used clothing is thoughtful, evacuees currently lack detergent, laundry facilities, or the time to sort and wash items to ensure proper sizing.

In addition to gift cards, the drive is accepting black and yellow Costco totes filled exclusively with brand new essential hygiene items, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, general bathroom essentials, tampons, and pads. Donations of pet supplies, specifically cat food, dog food, and cat litter, are also urgently needed.

Community members in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas who wish to donate, drop off supplies, or contribute financially can reach out directly or utilize the online registries and links below. A 23-year-old Pasco driver was injured early Saturday morning following a single-vehicle collision on State Route 240 within the Kennewick city limits.

According to Washington State Patrol, Nathan I. Martin was traveling eastbound in a 1998 gray Toyota Corolla near milepost 42 when the vehicle left the roadway. Martin overcorrected, causing the car to strike an embankment.

Martin was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He sustained injuries and was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Investigating officers determined that improper lane usage and driving under the influence were causes of the accident. Martin faces DUI charges. His vehicle was considered totaled and was removed from the scene by Ken's NW Towing.

Kansas Driver Injured After Vehicle Totaled in SR 397 Crash

State Route 397 near Milepost 22 (James St), Pasco

A Kansas man was injured Friday night following a single-vehicle collision on State Route 397 in Pasco. According to the Washington State Patrol, 73-year-old Francis Haggerty of Topeka, Kansas, was traveling southbound in a 2017 Buick LaCrosse near milepost 22 when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a fence. The car was totaled in the crash. Haggerty was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Lourdes Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Troopers determined speed was the cause of the wreck, confirmed drugs or alcohol were not involved, and noted charges are pending.
