Dogs on Shady Lane is a Providence-and-Brooklyn- based indie-rock project. Blending elements of alt-folk and slow-core; their sound has been compared to the likes of Faye Webster and Big Thief.

Songwriter and guitarist Tori Hall began Dogs on Shady Lane in 2018 as an independent creative exploration. The project has since grown to include Evan Weinstein (guitar/synth/vox), Calder Mansfield (bass/vox), and Grace Goss (percussion) as of 2020. The 4-piece band is known to create a dynamic yet intimate live show— playing frequently in both RI and NY scenes.

Rafay Rashid, born in Islamabad, Pakistan and bred in New York City and Rhode Island, makes experimental garage pop songs that are confessional, ecstatic, and confrontational. His writing emerged as a response to growing up an immigrant Muslim kid in a post 9/11 America. Ravi Shavi, the name of his band, became a persona and vehicle for both radical healing and punk empowerment as he crafted a niche amidst the noise and folk music scenes of Providence, Rhode Island in the late 00’s. Since then, he has cut his teeth touring independently throughout the past decade opening for such acts as Charles Bradley, Of Montreal, Man Man, Budos Band, Los Lobos and the Black Lips. He released his debut solo album, Kitchen Weapons, on Brooklyn-based label Almost Ready Records in May 2023.

In addition to fronting his band, Ravi Shavi, which has become a staple of the underground Providence music scene, he has been the featured performer at the 2017 Whitney Biennial Gala, the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai, the 2021 Newport Folk Festival and also writes and performs with 3/4ths of Deer Tick in their side project, Happiness, which released a full-length album in 2019 called “Live” and Lookers, which released a full-length album called “Deeper” in March 2025.

this tape is two versions of the same song, different styles/lenses, both from the beautiful mind of sarah greenwell. “love you funny” (the GYMSHORTS version) is streaming everywhere now. we are so thrilled to be co-releasing this with Freeman Street Records (vinyl), dream team.

this release was recorded locally at Big Nice Studio and the tapes were also made locally at Audio Geography Studios.
