A Springville elementary employee was arrested on suspicion of possessing child s*x abuse material.

In a statement to the Daily Herald, a Nebo School District spokesperson confirmed the man is no longer employed at the school, and said the safety and security of students is the district’s top priority.

“We want to reassure our community that we are cooperating fully with law enforcement throughout this process. Should parents have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to the school or district administration.”

The new Timpanogos School District school board was sworn in Tuesday and is holding its first meeting. Jennifer Lyman was unaminously elected as board president and Sterling Hilton was unanimously chosen as vice president. The board is launching a survey to help determine a permanent name for the district.

According to Utah County Clerk Aaron Davidson, the county received just over 67,000 ballots through Monday evening, then an additional 51,000 ballots on Election Day. As of 2 p.m today, the county still had 30,000 ballots to count. Davidson said a large results update will be posted by 8 p.m. tonight.
