IAM Recording

IAM Recording IAM Recording is a music and voice recording studio located in southeast Provo. I use a Kawai electric MIDI piano with Synthogy's Ivory II piano plugins.

IAM Recording has been in Provo since 1999, but it has always been a private studio for my personal projects and work. In recent years I've been engineering recording projects for other people and I find that I enjoy it very much. I use Digital Performer professional recording software with plugins that include: MOTU, Waves, and Synthogy. I use a variety of dynamic, small diaphram condensor, and l

arge diaphram condensor microphones made by Neumann, Shure, Blue Microphones, AKG, Avantone, and MXL. To hear some of the music that I've recorded at IAM Recording, visit: www.geslisongroberg.com or look at the monthly post her at IAM Recording on Facebook. -Mark Geslison

Barn Dance Friends! Come to our barn dance on Friday, July 11! We’ll be in the East Ballroom of the BYU Wilkinson Center. Some of our BYU music and dance students will be there as they prepare for their summer tour to Italy! If you have a pair of cowboy boots, wear em’! We’ll do some country line dancing mixed in with our traditional American dances.

Friends! If you recently received a post that appeared to be from me--one that was not the usual barn dance/music sort of thing--it wasn't from me. I was informed that my FB account was hacked. It might have been my personal account or one of the others that I use. Those others are Institute of American Music, Lincoln Highway, Utah Valley Barn Dance, IAM Recording, and LittleJohn Duo. My posts are about ban dances, music, and music videos, and that's about it. I'm not trying to sell or promote anything else on social media.

Friends! It's time for a new music recording post. This month's music is an arrangement of Each Life That Touches Ours for Good. I wanted to post it before Easter so that it might contribute to your Easter experience--and I hope you enjoy it!
My guests are Laura Waters (lead voice and background violin), Brielle Petrie (harmony voices), Sarah Johnson (flute), and Brian Moose (oboe). Mark Geslison plays guitar and bass. Click on the link below to listen to the music. Please like and share if you enjoy it!

Happy November friends! I hope you are all enjoying the Thanksgiving season (and not jumping straight into Christmas!). My music post for this month is one of gratitude and grace. Several weeks ago I recorded Garrett Egan on a couple of pieces. One was my post back in August (All Creatures of Our God and King). The other recording was of Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone. This is my post for November. Please scroll down and click on the link to hear the music.
Garrett sings the voice part on the recording, while Isaac Nikulás Geslison plays guitar, and Mark Geslison plays octave mandolin, bass, and shruti box (the drone sound in the background). Garrett is a recent graduate of BYU while Isaac is a junior at BYU. Watch for more to come from these guys. Garrett has an awesome voice and the world needs to hear more of it! Isaac is a great guitarist who will soon be heard more and more.

Happy October friends! This is my favorite month of the year! This month I decided to post an Irish tune set titled, Deireadh Fomhair (which is Irish for October!). This arrangement goes from hauntingly ethereal to upbeat and lively. My guests this month are Bryson Tudor and Taylor Kraus Tudor. Scroll down to the bottom of this text to find the link to the music. Also at the bottom of this text you'll find photos and a video of Bryson and Taylor.
Bryson and Taylor, and their nearly 1 year old daughter, Elodie, live in El Paso, Texas. Bryson is a medical school student at Texas Tech, while Taylor is a personal trainer at Her Gym El Paso. Taylor is also a fiddle teacher in the El Paso area. On the recording Taylor plays fiddle, Bryson plays guitar, and Mark Geslison plays bass and bodhran (Irish drum).

Friends, it's time for my September 2018 music post featuring four guest musicians on an arrangement of Press Forward Saints (one of my favorite hymns).
Since I arranged Press Forward Saints for guitar and woodwind quartet, I invited four woodwind musicians to participate on the recording. They are Allyson Thayne on flute, Michelle Fletcher on bassoon, Scott Smith on clarinet, and Brian Moose on oboe (pictured in that order below). Allyson Thayne and Scott Smith are music students at Utah Valley University. Michelle Fletcher and Brian Moose are music students at Brigham Young University.
Press Forward Saints was composed by Vanja Watkins. It is a favorite hymn for many people that I know. I hope you all enjoy this arrangement. If so, please "like" it and "share" it!
