Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through your submissions to Pilgrimage. We received over 700 pieces to consider, which is a thrilling first for us! We're writing to share some updates and to also, first and foremost, apologize for not reaching out with news sooner.

Pilgrimage is a labor of love, and this past year has been a tough one. Now, we're excited to share that we will finish reading all submissions this summer and will release our next issue in the fall. We will be in touch with final decisions as soon as possible. If your work has already been accepted elsewhere, congratulations on finding a home for your work! If you withdrew for other reasons, we are sorry that we missed out on your writing. Please note, we are not open for submissions, and we are catching up on submissions we've already received.

This upcoming issue will be my last issue as the editor. I will be stepping down after serving for 11 years because of some changes in my personal life and I feel it best to step aside. It is my hope that Pilgrimage can find new leadership and energy to keep it going as strongly as possible. It’s been a true honor to serve as editor for this magazine. Being a part of this community has taught me so much over the years and has given me so many opportunities to connect with so many talented and generous writers. I have always done my best to keep Pilgrimage going and to help it be the best it can be, through some difficult times.

With my departure, Pilgrimage needs a new editor(s) and home. We are grateful to CSU Pueblo, who has been a great source of support for so many years. We hope to keep Pilgrimage going with new leadership, and some members of the editorial team have expressed a desire to stay on with the right circumstances. Pilgrimage is a 501c3 and has some small resources to help with a transition into its next iteration. We are open to the changes that can help keep it going. If you are interested or represent an institution that could be a new home for Pilgrimage, please send us an email for more information at [email protected].

Since 1976, Pilgrimage has been a literary magazine that has published with a focus on story, spirit, witness, and place in and beyond the American Southwest. Here's to one more issue with its current team, and we hope that Pilgrimage can live on and move forward!

Thank you for your support of Pilgrimage now and over the years.

Best,

Juan

Happy Friday from the Pilgrimage Team!

As we are reaching the end of this week, we thought it would be great to announce that this upcoming Monday (April 17th) Oliver Baez Bendorf will be in Pueblo, CO hosting an event at the CSU-P campus!

Bendorf will be hosting a workshop event titled, "List, Litany, Lightning" at 1PM and will later in the day be reading from his most recent releases at 7PM!

Both events will be free for the public, have copies of books available for sale, and will be taking place in the same spot throughout the day: the LINC X Presentation space on the second floor of the LARC building.

Feel free to swing by and have a wonderful weekend!
