Sunday afternoon, shortly before 3pm, Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Division Fire Team was dispatched to a brush fire in the 2300-Blk of Little Burnt Mill Rd. Original reports from the 9-1-1 callers reported a fast moving brush fire and the size was unknown. Smoke was visible from across the county and so mutual aid was requested from Pueblo West Fire Department in the form of a type 6 brush truck to help contain the fire. An off duty firefighter in the area arrived on scene and sized up a 1-2 acre brush fire in light flashy fuels being pushed by light to moderate winds towards the west. The property owner was also trying to cut a fire line using a tractor. Crews began to arrive and anchored in at the origin of the fire and split the fire into into a left flank and right flank with Pueblo West District Chief 1 taking operations. Units were on scene several hours containing the fire and getting it completely mopped up. In total the fire burned just under 7 acres. Units on scene of the fire were ESD Fire Brush Engine 131, Brush 163, Brush 164, Brush 165, Tender 192, Pueblo West District Chief 1, and Brush 863. The cause of the fire was accidental due to sparks from a construction saw.

Pueblo Fire Department was dispatched on Wednesday evening to a vehicle fire near 10th and Court downtown. The caller reported a vehicle with smoke from the engine compartment and that there was no one inside the vehicle. Shortly after dispatch flames became visible from the wheel wells and other areas around the engine compartment. Engine 31 arrived and found a vehicle with an engine compartment fire across from the courthouse. They pulled a trash booster line from the rear of the engine and quickly extinguished the fire. They made access into the cabin by breaking a window and then popped the hood to access the fire. All together crews made quick work of the fire and kept it from spreading into the cabin.

Wednesday morning, Pueblo Fire Department opened their second of their three new stations. Station 8 has been located on Bonforte Blvd for many years. As of Wednesday Engine 38 and Brush 68 will be now running from their new station near Jerry Murphy and Candytuft Blvd. Their previous station was shared with the admin office and was small and very outdated. The admin staff will continue to work from the Bonforte location. The new location allows for room to grow and ups safety measures and will help crews reduce the cancer risk. Station 6 is the last of the new stations to be finished and is expected to be finished in late 2025. Congratulations to the Pueblo Fire Department and City of Pueblo, Colorado - City Government!

On Saturday August 9th, several local Pueblo fire agencies took part in a procession from city park to the Praise Assembly Church building on Troy Ave. Along the route, the procession passed by fire station 7 on Pueblo Blvd and St. Clair where Chief Novak served as a captain for many years. The first half of the video is the view as the procession passed that station, flight for life lifeguard 4 can be seen in the background flying over as well. Firefighters from several area departments also back filled the city stations to allow their members to attend the memorial service. West Park Volunteer fire Department Engine 531 can be seen on the pad with members saluting as they pass. In the second half of the video, members of Truck 52 had placed a flag from its ladder to welcome the procession as they entered the church. Tuesday afternoon just before 4 pm, Pueblo Rural Fire Protection District was dispatched to the area near 29th Ln and Drive Rd. Original reports were four parties lost on the river while tubing. Requests were made by 781 enroute for Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Division SAR to respond as well as a request for drones to help locate the parties. A medical helicopter was also requested but could not fly due to lightning in the area. Crews arrived on scene and set up command and staging while a deputy located two of parties involved who advised there were actually six total and the other four were still up river. Those two parties continued tubing down river to their vehicle on Baxter Rd. One of the first arriving PCSO wildland firefighters deployed a drone and upon scouting the river located the four parties in question and led crews into their exact location. Once crews made access to them it was determined there were three teenagers and one adult. One party had a minor injury but all were in stable condition. Firefighters and search and rescue personnel set up ropes and rigging which required a firefighter from Pueblo Rural to swim across the river. Once everything was set up a deputy was able to walk in through a heavily wooded area to the south side of the river where the parties were and assisted operations on that side. An inflatable boat was deployed with two rescuers and several trips were made across the river to extract all four parties and crews. Once removed the parties were treated by AMR and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Crews were on scene for over 4 hours and included Rural Chief 701, Rescue 781, Engine 731, Engine 732, Engine 733, Brush 761, ESD Brush 165, Brush 161, Truck 184, and two ATV/SAR trailers.
