August 22, 2025 Evan Ellis News

A 21 year old Malden man has pleaded guilty to communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

Levi Anderson pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor count in Whitman County District court Friday. In the plea agreement the prosecutor’s office reduced the charge from a felony.

Anderson was arrested by the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office in late June for texting a picture of his p***s to a 15 year old girl. Anderson admitted to deputies that he sent the image while he was drunk.

He must wear the device for 150 days and if he drinks Anderson will face a potential 6 month jail term. Judge Sandberg also ordered Anderson to undergo a psychos*xual evaluation and comply with all treatment recommendations. He was placed on probation for two years and cannot contact his victim for two years. Anderson must also register as a s*x offender for 10 years. He has been in jail since his arrest.

WSU Fraternity Loses Recognition This Fall For Hazing Students Last Spring

August 22, 2025 Evan Ellis News

A Washington State University fraternity has lost its recognition for the fall semester for hazing.

According to updated information posted on the WSU website the Gamma Iota Omicron fraternity hazed new members last spring. The report states that the fraternity required new members to carry specified items. They were also blindfolded and taken to undisclosed locations where they experienced severe verbal confrontations. The Gamma Iota Omicron fraternity is also on probation through the upcoming spring semester. Members must also take anti hazing classes.

WSU is required by state law to publicly report allegations of Greek Row violations online. The requirement is part of “Sam’s Law” which was crafted after the death of WSU student Sam Martinez who died in 2019 of alcohol poisoning following an Alpha Tau Omega party.

NASA to Send U of I Student Research to International Space Station
August 21, 2025 Cooper McCauley News

Research from students at the University of Idaho will soon be launched to NASA’s International Space Station for further analysis.

The research was led by College of Engineering graduate student Adrienne Shea and Professor Matthew Bernards and focuses on developing bacteria adhesion-resistant coating for use in space to protect astronauts from getting sick.

Sending the research to the ISS allows the polymers to be tested in zero-gravity conditions.

The research is scheduled for launch on August 24 at 2:45 pm and will be live-streamed at the link in our article.

“This research is crucial not only for protecting astronaut health during long-term space missions, but also for advancing water distribution systems here on Earth,” Bernards said. “By developing materials that resist bacteria and protein buildup, we’re helping create cleaner, safer environments.”

The research also has applications in the medical field, including use in organ transplants and joint replacements.
