ions was started in 2008 as an amateur satirical high school newspaper modeled after The Onion and AMV (Anime Music Video) production company. After the creator graduated, the company fell silent as the freelance, non-profit products lost their audience and the founder began to have less time for the projects after starting college at the University of Southern Mississippi. In 2010, the founder, Johnathon Wilkes, decided it was time to revive the company's namesake for his newest project, the first non-profit venture under the company's name - Gamer Gear.
