A yoga hazing ritual on the set of Rip n' run to limber up the stunt crew.
..Which was also all of our lead actors...

Dulvlu was working for lululemon during the making of Rip n' Run. He got free yoga and bootcamp classes, whereas before he had lived 22 years without ever doing an actual workout.
Naturally, delusions of self-grandeur set in and he insisted the team take a yoga break during one of the 16 hour shoots for the climactic fight scene of the film. The showcase quickly became a mockery, but the team still flexed SOMETHING...

Composing a long running shot in the desert for the film "Horribly Wrong"

I promised myself I'd start posting on social media again this week, so I dug up stills from the other 2 upcoming DSME films. Altogether we have a trying trilogy of travesties for you...

Early choreography for the film "Rip n' Run" by Michael Delisle.

Just the day before shooting the 2nd scene of the film, Delisle found a YouTube video of a random martial arts drill. The style and technique seemed nondescript and obscire enough to get away with.

In expectedly eager fashion, we wee filmmakers meekly recreated it the next day by just watching the YouTube video on repeat until nightfall (although the scene is set during daylight)
We then had to fake night-for-day...

At least we were convincing enough to be questioned by a police officer in the alleyway we shot in.
How he responded to our answers though, is another story...

It took 5 dudes to pull off a 1 second shot of a cup being filled in "Rip n' Run".

Many shots of RnR were in the spirit of experimention... in a time when we felt we had all the time in the world. Fresh out of college, and waiting for a 'next big thing' that would never come.

The idea was to follow a single ice cube moving from the bottom of the tumbler to its rim as water is poured around it. Even now, the effort feels worth it if not for the story. And especially for the fearfully unique result.

Cameramen Tyler and Dulvlu figuring out an impossible shot for Rip n' Run.

Lenses as old as 50 years were used in the making of the film. The one pictured here needed strips of tape and rope in order to zoom properly for the Title Reveal shot of the film. Thankfully it worked out after 2 hours of trying...

Some actors were paid in beer to work on this film.
It's always a magical time when a baby filmmaker discovers gels, fog machines and UV lights all at once. Usually it's for a rap music video so I'm one of the lucky ones.

Let's get right into it; a 4 year project is in its last phases of completion. Here's the first photo ever took during the infamous production of "Rip N' Run"... DSME's greatest short film (it'll be called that after the other shorts come out. But maybe it's not the "best"...)

It's been 7 months, and now the fairly-daily posts shall return. Thank you for still coming around to read my notes.

This was, I believe, taken during after the first script-reading in February 2018.

The horror short "Interlocution" turns 1 year old today. Might be a good time to watch it again to see if you catch the hints to the twist or any other subtle details.
