We had a battle with red mites this season and I thought I saw a lice once!!!

This insect repellent seems to be the only thing that finally made them go away completely!!!

I first used Ivermectin on the back of the necks. Fire to torch everything the flame could reach. Pressure washed everything then sprayed 2 gallons of Elector PSP all over the coop and the birds.

That resulted in a reduction of the mites but there were still signs of them. So I tried this Sawyer insect repellent. Made sure it was a hot day and drenched the coop especially the cracks and let it dry completely before allowing the birds access back in.

Now the mites are officially gone!!!

I haven't seen any lice since that first one but it's been 2 weeks and I'm now applying the second dose of Ivermectin just in case.

Today we added a Flemish Giant to our breeding program. This girl is HUGE! She will first be paired with our American Blue big boy and then our New Zeland/Flemish cross.
