1. Origins

QUESTION: When and where was your sound founded, and who were the original members behind it?

ANSWER: Kanabis was founded in 2000 by Stingaz aka Deon. The original members were Mario, Gangster, and Stingaz.

2. Name Meaning

QUESTION: How did the name of your sound come about, and what does it represent?

ANSWER: The sound was originally named after the plant cannabis, but later changed to Kanabis with a “K” for permission and licensing purposes to keep parties and promotions. The name represents w**d and the culture surrounding it.

3. Foundation Style

QUESTION: What makes your sound unique — your dubbox, juggling style, or clash strategy?

ANSWER: Kanabis is a unique type of sound because it was built from scratch, with knowledge gained from being part of other sounds since the record days, learning the craft of dub cutting. Our dubbox contains only hit songs—we’ve always focused on cutting hits. From early on, we also customized a lot of our dubs, rewriting lyrics and adding creativity, which became a trademark for Kanabis.

4. Biggest Achievement

QUESTION: What’s one of your proudest moments in your sound’s journey — a clash win, a legendary dub, or a historic dance?

ANSWER: One of Kanabis’ biggest achievements clash-wise was clashing in Brooklyn, where we locked off two sounds. Another was taking part in one of the biggest clashes in Guyana, Armageddon. We’ve had many proud moments—it’s too much to list, but those stand out.

QUESTION: Why should fans believe your sound will walk away champion of Royal Rumble 2025?

ANSWER: Fans should believe in Kanabis because we bring unmatched energy and creativity to every clash. We always give fans something to feel and talk about, going the extra mile to ensure the audience is pleased. For us, the fans come first at all times—if we can’t give them the best show, we won’t step on the stage. 🔥 From their origins to the meaning behind their name, MAGASH INTL 🇨🇭 has a story rooted in sound system culture.
Their journey continues at Royal Rumble 2025, but will it end with the crown? 👑🎶

1. Origins

QUESTION: When and where was your sound founded, and who were the original members behind it?

ANSWER: Ma Gash was founded in 2005 in Geneva, Switzerland. The original members were the 8 current members of Ma Gash (even if most are not active anymore), plus 3 other members: my brother President Deekah, another selecta Mad Governa, and Dexta, who sadly passed away shortly after the sound was founded.

2. Name Meaning

QUESTION: How did the name of your sound come about, and what does it represent?

ANSWER: No need to explain to any Jamaican what Ma Gash means, but for non-Jamaicans, it comes from “oh my gosh.” This was the sample of dancehall artist Alozade, and some of his songs were anthems for us even before the sound was founded. It became a sample for our group, and we ended up naming the sound after it.

3. Foundation Style

QUESTION: What makes your sound unique — your dubbox, juggling style, or clash strategy?

ANSWER: I think what makes Ma Gash unique is a combination of factors, rather than any one particular factor. Our dubplates are customized way more than an average sound, especially in terms of rewriting lyrics. Nuff artists would see us in the studio and be like “weh the lyrics deh” even before we handed them anything, because they were used to it by then. Our choice of riddims is also unique, using slow, powerful riddims voiced by up-to-date dancehall artists, along with up-tempo ones. Finally, we bring this all together with many speeches when we clash.

4. Biggest Achievement

QUESTION: What’s one of your proudest moments in your sound’s journey — a clash win, a legendary dub, or a historic dance?

ANSWER: This will change if you ask different members of Ma Gash, but for me it is winning War Climate in Jamaica. There is nothing like clashing in Jamaica — it’s just a different experience, and this win really meant a lot to me. If not this, it must be either the 1-on-1 with Soul Supreme in Brooklyn, still regarded today as one of the very top clashes of the last decade, or locking off LP in Trinidad.

5. Royal Rumble 2025 Outlook

QUESTION: Why should fans believe your sound will walk away champion of Royal Rumble 2025?

ANSWER: Royal Rumble is going to be a wicked dance. It doesn’t matter what people believe ahead of time — once they are in the dance and hear us, they will know. Ma Gash is coming to take it, period.

ANSWER: The sound was built in Queens, New York in 1982. Original member was Goldteeth Devon Bennett.

2. Name Meaning

QUESTION: How did the name of your sound come about, and what does it represent?

ANSWER: The sound represents Goldteeth’s lifestyle. He used to wear a lot of gold jewelry back in the days, which became the identity of the sound.

3. Foundation Style

QUESTION: What makes your sound unique — your dubbox, juggling style, or clash strategy?

ANSWER: Supergold has one of the most potent dub boxes in the clash industry. The dub collection makes the sound a true Foundation Style Sound.

4. Biggest Achievement

QUESTION: What’s one of your proudest moments in your sound’s journey — a clash win, a legendary dub, or a historic dance?

ANSWER: One of Supergold’s proudest moments was clashing legends David Rodigan and Barry G, including a historic face-off with David Rodigan in Atlanta in 2001.

QUESTION: When and where was your sound founded, and who were the original members behind it?

ANSWER: The sound was founded in Canada in 1991 with Double 6 and Short Man. It was based in the Eglinton area, which was a deep-rooted Jamaican community in Toronto (Little Jamaica).

2. Name Meaning

QUESTION: How did the name of your sound come about, and what does it represent?

ANSWER: The name of the sound came about based on the affiliation and family ties with a Jamaican area sound in Jamaica. It was continued on when Double Six migrated to Canada.

3. Foundation Style

QUESTION: What makes your sound unique — your dubbox, juggling style, or clash strategy?

ANSWER: Our high energy, high tempo pace along with our situational use of a deep dub box. We can take a clash in any route — new music, foundation, jump up, exclusive, hip hop, and Deadman lane. Truly versatile dub box.

4. Biggest Achievement

QUESTION: What’s one of your proudest moments in your sound’s journey — a clash win, a legendary dub, or a historic dance?

ANSWER: Being regarded as one of the premier sound systems in Canada. Having won every major Canadian clash event over the years to build our brand, as well as being the sound to take on all of the giants in sound clash history year after year.

QUESTION: Why should fans believe your sound will walk away champion of Royal Rumble 2025?

ANSWER: We have a new team of young selectors who are highly entertaining, extremely skilled, and have that natural raw talent and ability to connect in any environment. They are eager to make their mark in Jamaica and will not leave without the winnings.
