ART OF THE START: LAUNCHING YOUR STORY 10AM-12PM
Learn how to break through writer's block, feed your creativity, and get your story on the page.
Taught by JOHN FORNOF, who's written over 250 episodes of audio drama, including Adventures in Odyssey and Lamplighter Theatre.

BACKGROUND ACTORS BOOTCAMP: 1PM-4PM
Learn on-set protocol, create an actor's portfolio which includes a professional headshot and resume development, and be added to the local talent data base for future projects and productions.
Experienced actors AVA PALOMA, TIM GOINS, STEVE MCCURDY, & EMERSON RADOS will be the facilitators of the Background Actor Bootcamp. These seasoned instructors have experience in Film & Television, Broadway & Theatre, Production & Casting.

Workshops are free to the public and open to all ages.

With film production in full swing in South Georgia, the workforce is in rapid expansion. Our PhilanthroFilms “Train the Trainer” program has high school Audio Video Technology instructors in our facilities for 3 days. They’re learning the best techniques in lighting and grip to bring back to their students to get them job ready. We had teachers from 7 different school systems and multiple counties represented. We are pretty sure that is a first for this kind of training in our region.

South Georgia Studios is looking for your best movie pitches. Saturday March 4, during this year’s South Georgia Film Festival, participants will be able to spend 3 minutes pitching their film and television ideas to producers who can help turn their films into reality as part of the 2023 South Georgia Film Festival Pitchfest. The winner will receive a cash prize and a one-hour consulting session with the panel of judges with advice on strategy to move their project forward.

The Staff at the South Georgia Film Office are hard at work preparing for the Film and Television Grip and Lighting Workshop. Audio-Visual Technology (AVT) instructors from all across the South Georgia School Systems are gathering together for a Train the Trainer workshop with Afflux Studios. The team at Afflux are 16-year film industry veterans and bring a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to our local educators. Attendees will receive a grip and lighting curriculum adapted for the classroom.

With Georgia's $4.4 billion film industry gaining traction in South Georgia, this week PhilanthroFilms will be hosting a Train the Trainer workshop led by Afflux Studios focused on film and television grip and lighting. Instructors and teachers from Lowndes, Valdosta, Brooks, Tift, Colquitt, Clinch County School Systems and the Boys & Girls Club of Valdosta will attend a three-day workshop learning the techniques of grip and lighting work. Each attendee will receive a brand new curriculum adapted for the classroom.
