For those loyal readers of the Meigs Independent Press and followers of Red Rose Media - I tried very hard to revive the MIP. Unfortunately, there was very little business support for it. While there is obviously a need for local news, getting our area to financially support it has taken everything I could put into it. For months I have tried. I want to thank in particular the Racine Hardware for being such great supporters. They have been wonderful and truly deserve your patronage. Many businesses though wanted to "see if we stay with it" because of the changes and shuttering of the MIP early in 2024. That attitude however has ensured it would not be around. Red Rose Media, LLC will continue, but without the news component. Red Rose Media will instead provide services for our area including digital design, content, public relations, website management, media including commercials and other video products, and more. I will not be doing any local news through this page going further. It is my hope that the content from the 11 years of the MIP will be curated by the library, but that still must be worked out with them. At present the website is down. I appreciate all the efforts of those that wanted to help. I especially want to thank Catherine and Tyler Johnston for their efforts to bring the MIP back. News costs. It has to be funded and locally that has become more of a challenge than I can endure. It just is not possible anymore and has cost my family more than the public will ever know. Re: Domestic Violence Suspect

The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking the whereabouts of Andrew Charles Halley. Mr. Halley is 30 years old, 5’11” tall and 265 pounds. He was involved in a Domestic Violence incident on December 8th, 2024 in which he fled the scene prior to deputies arrival. Charges have been filed in Meigs County Court against Andrew Halley for Domestic Violence, Felonious Assault, Strangulation, and Abduction. We have received information that Mr. Halley has family in surrounding areas to Meigs where he may be hiding. If you see Mr. Halley please call 911 immediately and do not approach him. He is considered to be dangerous with violent tendencies.

Update: SR 833 is now reopened!!

State Route 833 is closed due to a tree across the roadway between Enterprise Road and the State Route 33 four lanes. Power is out in the area. AEP and ODOT have been notified and a restoration time is unknown as this time.
