We are excited to announce our Interactive Dignity Kit Volunteer Service on Saturday, April 15 from 9 AM-1 PM in Garey Hall 10A!

Volunteers are welcomed to join Oak Tree Films and Day of Service Committee to package dignity kits in support of the women and girls of Siaya, Kenya to fight against period poverty.

Period poverty is a pervasive inequality in Kenya that young girls and women are subject to face. The lack of access to sanitary products during menstrual cycles leads young girls to miss school, which impacts not only their education but also their dignity. Period poverty also affects women, where this vulnerability is taken advantage of from men in Kenyan communities. Though period poverty is salient in Kenya, it is a global issue that affects women everywhere, even in the United States.

Our goal is to package 2000 dignity kits filled with various items to fight against period poverty, such as underwear, reusable and disposable pads, and other hygiene products.

We welcome the greater Villanova community to help volunteer in packaging dignity kits for our initiative for the Siaya community. We hope to see you there on April 15! 🚺

We hope to highlight their community, language, and culture in our upcoming film, NINA, set to premiere May 4th.
