Why I built this

I’ve been deep in Muse lately. It’s great — and then I’d context-switch back to my Mac and feel the missing piece: there’s no native app. Browser tabs. No proper window. No “just hit a hotkey and talk to her” feeling.

So over one weekend, I built one.

Calliope is an unofficial native Mac shell for Muse: the real muse.ai experience, wrapped in a proper macOS app. Menu bar, hotkey, notifications — the stuff a browser tab doesn’t give you.

The name felt inevitable. In mythology, Calliope is the chief of the Muses — the one who watches over the rest. If Muse is the agent, Calliope is the home she deserves on your Mac.

I was watching The Chosen one night and a thought hit me that I couldn't shake.

They made the life of Jesus feel cinematic and real, without it being cheesy. And I kept thinking: what if someone did that for the rest of the Bible?

That question wouldn't leave me alone. I genuinely felt God putting it on my heart to build something. So I did.

I built Leavn. It's a private AI Bible study app that runs entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. No cloud, no server, no personal data collected. It works offline.

iOS 26 unlocked on-device AI tools that genuinely weren't possible before, and that meant I could build an app where your study stays between you and God. The privacy piece was non-negotiable for me.

One thing I'm proud of: Leavn might be the only Bible study app in the App Store with a mode for atheists. The Bible is literature, history, philosophy. If someone wants to engage with the text without a devotional lens, that door should be open.

There are premium features in the app, but I will never put the Bible itself behind a paywall. Reading the Word in different languages, studying Scripture on your own terms. That should be free. Always.

Leavn has been on the App Store since May, but version 3.0 is the real grand opening. Free on iOS and Android.
