Social media loves the destination, but rarely shows the long, heavy climb to get there.
We sacrificed a lot to buy this dirt, but having the land doesn’t mean we’ve reached freedom yet. Right now, it’s a constant balancing act—grinding through regular work weeks, dealing with the mental weight and burnout, and pouring every extra ounce of energy into building a profitable homestead that will eventually pay off.
Depression and exhaustion don’t magically disappear when you hit a milestone, but we’re staying focused on the end goal: turning this land into a sustainable business that gives us our time back.
Send this to someone who is in the middle of their own grind right now and needs to know they aren’t alone. 🌾✨

A year ago, we made a choice that had a lot of people tilting their heads—we sold the “dream house.” 🏠✨

But looking at these moments, the mud puddles, the open space, and the simple, wild freedom... we’d make the exact same choice every single time. It turns out “home” wasn’t a bigger house—it was a bigger life. 🌿

My husband is a “we don’t need blueprints, I can just look at a picture and build it” kind of guy... 🛠️👀
Building a custom chicken coop on our 12 acres with zero plans, a circular saw, and a dream is definitely one way to test a marriage.
Honestly, he somehow pulled it off and the coop looks amazing—but it definitely wasn’t a flawless journey. We made some major, hilarious, and frustrating mistakes along the way that we really wish we’d avoided.
Want to save yourself the headache before you build yours?

We loved our life in the neighborhood, but we knew we wanted a different kind of childhood for our kids. We wanted dirt roads, wide-open spaces, and true freedom.
So in our 30s, we did the “crazy” thing. We packed up the suburban routine, moved the whole family into a travel trailer, and started building from scratch on 12 raw, off-grid acres.
It wasn’t always comfortable, it definitely wasn’t glamorous, and it started in very tight quarters—but it was the single most important “yes” we ever said. If you’re sitting in a subdivision right now dreaming of a wilder, more self-sufficient life... this is your sign to start planning. The trailer phase is just Chapter 1 of building your castle. 🌲🏰✨
